Two words: epic fail!

Two more words: good recovery!

When I was little my mom and I made an Easter Bunny cake every year. When I grew up, I continued the tradition with my boys. Our cakes always turned out really nice, until last year and this year…

Last year’s cake leaned to the left so much that by Easter dinner, I had to put something under the left side of the plate so the bunny didn’t fall over!  I made it the way I always make it, with two 9-inch round cakes cut into shapes and put together to make a bunny.

Last year when one of my clients heard about my pathetic cake, she gave me this pan since she’d never used it.  I couldn’t wait until this year to use it and I called it my “cheater” pan.    🙂

I was off to a good start, and then he collapsed.  Even toothpicks couldn’t hold him together.

Then his whole head fell off and he totally lost one of his ears…

Sooooo……  I just set his head on the plate in front of him and went from there!

Lot’s of filler icing and icing stars got me to this point.  If I photograph him from just the right angle he looks pretty good!  Note:  The pan is history!

I don’t like to brag, but I am the queen of deviled eggs.  Today I decided to make my deviled eggs look like the little chicks I’d seen on Pinterest.  Obviously I didn’t cut the olives into small enough pieces so they look like they’re wearing sunglasses.  By this point, I was so frustrated with my cake that I didn’t care how the deviled eggs looked.

I’m going to leave you with my two favorite Easter pictures of my sons when they were little.  Are they the cutest little guys, or what?

  • Questions:
  • Do you have a dessert that is a family tradition that you still make?
  • Do you ever make the foods or crafts that you pin to Pinterest?
  • Will you be able to be with family for Easter?
