You Could Say There’s A Theme Going On Here!

Just for fun, I’m going to take you on a quick tour of our main Christmas tree.  I suppose you could say there are a few themes going on here and of course running is one of the big ones!

I worked on this stuffed Santa during my lunch break for weeks as a surprise for Bill for our first tree after we were married…

And possibly my favorite tree trimming tradition involves these two doves that Daniel and I hang together every year.  When he was away at college, I’d decorate the tree, but keep these two doves off until he got home so we could hang them together…

  • Questions:
  • Where do you put your children’s homemade ornaments, proudly on the front of your tree or do you hide them on the back?  ~  Proudly on the front, but I only kept the most special ones.
  • What’s the oldest holiday decoration you own and from what holiday is it?
  • Are you thinking about your 2014 fitness goals?

I can’t believe you made some of those ornaments! Those are awesome! And I love the dove tradition – that’s so sweet. Both my wife and I have our baby ornaments that our parents each gave us when we became adults and had our own tree. I think my new most special ornament is the paw print of my cat Boomer who just passed last year.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!! :)

    • Deb Runs says:

I’m glad you have the paw print ornament so you’ll always have a little remembrance of Boomer. And BTW, Boomer… what a great name for a cat! :-)

Funnily enough, he came with that name! He was my first “adult” pet – my first rescue adoption. He was 3 years old when I adopted him and his family had moved and let him behind. I liked the name so much I kept it. He was a big boy too, so it kind of fit him!

What lovely ornaments! My parents still use old ornaments I made from preschool and its so embarrassing! But kind of fun. Ornaments have really fun memories :) I love the Colorado one, but I may be biased!

  3. Becky says:

I love all the stories behind ornaments! I can’t remember making too many of them in school but in 3rd grade our teacher gave us an apple one with our names on it and I still have that one. I make sure to put it on the front :) My biggest fitness goal for 2014 is to finish the marathon in one piece!

Have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!

  4. Meagan says:

I love all of your ornaments! One of my favorite things about decorating our Christmas tree is remembering the memories behind each ornament. I guess our oldest decorations are some Christmas ornaments that Barry and I were both given from our respective childhoods.

I’ve been in the midst of planning our 2014 race schedule! We are starting to think about starting a family, possibly in 2015, and 2014 may be the year of race palooza!

    • Deb Runs says:

      Starting a family… That’s exciting!

We’ll have to compare our race schedule when we both figure it out. Did I ask you if you’re interested in running the Hungry Mother Half in Marion in early April?

      • Meagan says:

No, you hadn’t mentioned it! I’ll have to add that one to the wish list. Right now there are three races on my wish list for April (3.2 for 32, Marine Corps 17.75K, and Blue Ridge), so we will have to see what works out :)
