Let me be the first to wish you a…
Bill and I decided to ring out the old year with a night-time run through our neighborhood so we could enjoy all of the beautiful Christmas lights one more time before people started taking their decorations down during the next few days.
We donned our headlamps and reflective clothing and headed out around 6:30 PM. Nope, that’s not the ghost of 2013 running by, that’s Bill’s headlamp and reflective pants legs!
I turned on the camera flash to get a better picture. And yes, that’s snow you see! Just a few flakes, but still it was delightful!
As I finish my last seven-mile run of the year, I’m beaming my stats up to RunKeeper! Yesterday afternoon I calculated that I ran about 1,400 miles in 2013. Not too shabby!
Even though we’d originally planned to run earlier in the day, I’m glad we didn’t, and I couldn’t think of a better time to run to end 2013!
Doesn’t it look like streamers are falling from the sky as I’m finishing my final run of the year? And doesn’t it look like my head just exploded?
Stay tuned later today for another post about my running resolutions for 2014. In the meantime, have a safe and happy celebration!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
- Questions:
- Did you get the opportunity to run at night during the holidays to enjoy the lights?
- How late do you usually stay up on New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Morning?
- Who is racing later this morning?
Happy New Year! What a fabulous way to ‘run’ out the new year and bring in the new. Can’t wait to read your running goals for 2014!
2014 will be the year we run together!
Looks like a perfect way to end 2013! I love the photos.
Looking forward to following along with your 2014!
Thanks, Abby! And I look forward to following your very fit 2014 journey!
Those pictures came out really cool! Sounds like a perfect way to end the year.
I was sure I was not going to make it until midnight last night (we get up at 4:30 for gym/work) but we ended up making it and staying up until around 12:30. Then we slept until 10:30! LOL I got to the gym around noon and expected it to be filled with revolutionists, but it wasn’t too bad, especially for being the middle of the day that most people have off.
Good for you for making it to the gym today! I trained clients this morning, but my basement gym wasn’t too crowded! 😉
What a GREAT way to end the year!! 🙂
It was perfect!
Wow! That is an amazing photo! Bill does such a great job. Are you wearing your new reflective jacket?
Your nighttime run sounds like the perfect way to “ring out” the old year! Happy New Years!
Yes, I had on my new pink jacket on our New Year Eve’s run.
I’ll tell Bill that you liked his photograph!
I’m pretty late to the party here, so I really just wanted to say how freakin’ COOL your light-play photos are. I love how easy – but awesome – these pics are. They’re very cool with cars on freeways – but even BETTER from runners with headlamps! 🙂
Thanks; I thought they were pretty cool, too!
