Bill and I decided to ring out the old year with a night-time run through our neighborhood so we could enjoy all of the beautiful Christmas lights one more time before people started taking their decorations down during the next few days.

We donned our headlamps and reflective clothing and headed out around 6:30 PM.  Nope, that’s not the ghost of 2013 running by, that’s Bill’s headlamp and reflective pants legs!

I turned on the camera flash to get a better picture.  And yes, that’s snow you see!  Just a few flakes, but still it was delightful!

As I finish my last seven-mile run of the year, I’m beaming my stats up to RunKeeper!  Yesterday afternoon I calculated that I ran about 1,400 miles in 2013.  Not too shabby!

DebRunningHeadLampEven though we’d originally planned to run earlier in the day, I’m glad we didn’t, and I couldn’t think of a better time to run to end 2013!

Doesn’t it look like streamers are falling from the sky as I’m finishing my final run of the year?  And doesn’t it look like my head just exploded?

Stay tuned later today for another post about my running resolutions for 2014.  In the meantime, have a safe and happy celebration!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
