You want to drink it fast, but you want it to last forever.”

Back in May, I thought I was being so smart when I posted Summer Fruits – Not What You’re Expecting and listed my five favorite fruity cocktails instead of summer fruits.  Now it’s time to list my favorite summer drinks and since my May list included some of my very favorite summer drinks, a couple are gonna have to make a reappearance!

1.  Water – Nothing tastes as good to me on a hot summer day as a cold glass of water.  Plain. Simple. Water!

2.  Soda – I know, I know – it’s awful that I love soda, but I blame it on my parents.  My dad wouldn’t drink it because it wasn’t healthy, and we were only rarely allowed to have it.  Because of that, when I got to college that’s all I wanted.  Seriously, I chose soda over beer.  What red-blooded college student does that?  And speaking of beer, to this day, I can’t stand the taste of beer.

3.  Wine Cooler – If Bill and I are eating outside on a hot summer evening, we often choose to make wine coolers over having a glass of wine.  After filling the glass with crushed ice, I fill it about one quarter to one third full with wine, and then top it off with ginger ale.  It turns wine into a very refreshing summery drink!

4.  Margarita – The secret to a good margarita is top-shelf tequila.  My two favorites are Tres Generaciones Añejo and Milagro; however, when the above picture was taken, I hadn’t discovered either and enjoyed Patron.  I was recently introduced to Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix.  In fact, in the spirit of research, I’m enjoying a margarita with this new mix as I type.

5.  Peach and Coconut Rum Breeze – I came up with this drink at the beach a couple of summers ago.  It’s easy to make and tastes so good!  Whenever I make one, Bill and I are instantly taken back to the beach!  It’s as simple as two parts Peach Mango Fuze Izze Sparkling Peach and one part coconut rum. You’ll feel an ocean breeze with the first sip!  On a very sad note, we can no longer find the Peach Mango Fuze in any of our grocery stores, but Bill found Izze Sparkling Peach at Whole Foods, and it tastes quite good.

Don’t forget to stop by the other participating bloggers’ little corners of the internet to check out their favorite drinks!
