Bluebird looks like many of us in Virginia felt during the first few days of this past week. With dreary skies and plenty of rain, even the sweetest of creatures said, “Enough already.”

Bummed that I couldn’t be outside gardening, I sneaked out long enough on Monday to capture this picture of our bleeding hearts dotted in rain drops.

Even though I don’t mind running in the rain, I chose to stay inside for my run on Tuesday. After a less than stellar run on my treadmill, I called it quits after four miles when I got a catch in my left glute. Even though foam rolling made my glute feel better, Thursday morning I chose to take it easy when I met my running friends at the trail (luckily nothing hurt during my run). We had three different paces going, but we hung out together for a couple of minutes to stretch at the end. BTW, can I just say how great it is to be finishing our 5:30 AM runs in the daylight!

Because I decided to run alone on Saturday, I headed out a little later than usual and got caught in a thirty minute rainstorm. I didn’t mind the rain too much (it kept me cool), but I wasn’t thrilled to hear several rumbles of very loud thunder. It stopped raining at my turnaround point and it got quite steamy on my return home.

On the blog this week, I’ll be talking about dealing with my most recent melanoma removal as we kick off Skin Cancer Awareness Month tomorrow. On Wednesday my monthly Wednesday Word linkup will go live at midnight as it does the first Wednesday of every month. Please join me and share your interpretation of the word imagination. And finally, on Saturday I’ll be joining Deborah and Coco for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date.

In case you missed it, on Monday I posted my monthly Race Linkup which goes live the last Monday of every month and stays up for four weeks – it’s not too late to join in on the fun. On Wednesday, I posted Obscure Words Runners Can Appreciate and on Friday I joined in on the runfessions fun with Runfessions Of A Distracted Blogger and Conflicted Runner.

Back to my workouts, other than not hitting my cross-training workouts (my poor bike is getting lonely), overall it was a pretty good week. Here’s how my workouts went down…

Fitness tools beyond the equipment in my gym that I used during the week included:

Cameras used for blog photography include:

  • Questions:
  • Do you love or hate to run in the rain, or are you somewhere in between?
  • Do you stretch after your runs? ~ I’m hit or miss, but I am consistent with my yoga.
  • Did you race this weekend?

Have a great week!
