We had downpours of rain last night and the creek behind my house was flowing fast, but luckily the rain had stopped by morning. Susan and I were able to meet to run and were surprised that the trail was in pretty good shape. In years past I ran in every kind of weather except ice, or if the snow was so deep that I looked like a deer loping along. My very first marathon and my PR marathon were both in the pouring rain and I loved it! I loved the fact that the rain kept me cool, and I think that I stayed more focused on getting the job done as quickly as possible, so I could get out of the rain! 🙂 These days I don’t like running in the rain and will usually stay indoors and either use my elliptical or my stationary bike.

As Susan and I were running along we saw a family of four deer. They were just standing along the trail looking at us. I got a quick shot of this guy before he turned to start eating again.

My hubby was home at lunch time today and we made a yummy salad with grilled chicken, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, scallions, dried cranberries, and pecan halves. We drizzled a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar over them and pronounced them perfectly delicious!

Tonight I made the salmon and veggies that I bought at Costco yesterday. I rubbed a tiny bit of Wegman’s basting oil on the salmon, then put a little kosher salt and freshly ground pepper on it, and broiled it for ten minutes. I tossed the asparagus and peppers in a tiny bit of olive oil, then sprinkled kosher salt and freshly ground pepper on them, and roasted them at 425 degrees for twelve minutes. Yum, yum!
