It’s that time of year when trying to figure out what to give your favorite runner or active family member can leave you frazzled, especially if you’ve waited until the last minute to shop. Don’t worry, you’re not alone, and in the spirit of the season, I wrote a little song about why it’s easier to shop online…

Dashing through the dough
There’s no time to delay,
Down the aisles I go,
Crying all the way;

The traffic’s getting worse,
The stores are closing fast,
How sad it is to fuss and curse
I thought I’d have a blast

Crappity crap, crappity crap,

I can’t stand this day!
Give me the chance and I’m gonna slap
Anyone who gets in my way-ah

And then I saw her blog,

Gifts with just a click
What fun it is to shop, then jog
Less stress for runner chick

Yippidy yay, yippidy yay,

My shopping is complete!
Thank you Deb for the gift array
My friends will think I’m sweet!

(Appologies to James Pierpont who wrote Jingle Bells)

Gift Ideas at Every Price Point

For your convenience, I’ve listed some of my favorite running and fitness related items and I’ve even broken my gift suggestions down by price point.  Here are just a few of my ideas…

Under $15

Give your runner a place to log each run, especially if they’re not into gadgets and fancy watches…

Your runner might like a cup of coffee in a special mug before heading out for an early morning run…

And what runner wouldn’t like an ornament for the tree or to hang in a special place…

If your runner heads out before daylight, they’ll need a rechargeable headlamp…

As an added safety precaution, handheld pepper spray is always a good idea…

Even in the winter you don’t want your favorite runner to burn…

Nor get blisters…

Don’t knock them until you try them, toe socks are the bomb and help prevent blisters caused by toes rubbing together…

And if you think your friend just couldn’t handle toe socks, these comfy socks will bring a smile to their faces…

$15 to $25

Whether it’s hot or cold, multifunctional Buffs serve many purposes…

For runners in colder climates, be sure to help them keep their hands warm with gloves…

And for those who run in the sun, a visor is a necessity…

Make sure loved ones can be contacted should your runner need help while out on the trail…

Encourage your runner to stretch by giving them a comfortable yoga mat…

$25 to $49

Give your runner a handy place to carry a phone and other essential items…

Help your runner roll out their knots…

And if you think your favorite runner would rather not get down on the floor, get them a stick for rolling out their tight muscles…

You don’t want your favorite runner to slip and fall in the snow…

All runners need to stay hydrated…

And fueled…

And after that long run, those legs have got to recover…

$50 to $99

Every runner needs a lightweight jacket for efficient layering…

$100 to $199

Running shoes vary greatly in style and size so you may need to do a little snooping in the pile of stinky shoes to see which your favorite runner prefers…

You know your runner is going to want to listen to music or a podcast when they run…

$200 to $499

Feed into your favorite runner’s need to know exactly how far they’ve run and how fast they’ve gone…

And if your runner likes to document their runs to share on social media, they’ll love a new camera…

Over $500

When the weather outside is frightful, your runner might find a treadmill or spin bike to be delightful…

Gift Cards in Any Amount

When you just can’t come up with the perfect gift idea or your runner seems to already have everything, give a gift card. For many people, a gift card is preferred over anything else because the recipient can choose the exact gift they want, in the right size and color!

  • Questions:
  • Are you a last minute shopper?
  • Which items on the list would you like for yourself?
  • Which of the above do you consider the most essential items?
