I had always wanted to go parasailing, so last summer while we were at the beach we decided to go! I am terribly afraid of heights, so I was more than a little worried about going, but it was something I had to do! We decided if we were going to do it, we might as well do it right, so we paid for the full 1,200 feet of rope and a CD of photos.
As soon as the water taxi got us out to the parasailing boat and I got a glimpse of our captain and instructor, I knew it was going to be a fun adventure!
Meet Josh and Alex!
Bill and I were strapped into our matching life jackets and set to sail!
After Alex went over the brief instructions, and harnessed us up, he let the rope start rolling out, and we were off!
I had given my little camera to another lady on the boat, and she snapped this picture of Alex taking our picture for the CD.
This flight is worthy of a high five!
And there we go!
And go…. until the entire 1,200 feet of rope is let out. It is eerily quiet up there and not at all windy. I was totally amazed, awe struck, and not the least bit frightened.
Since I didn’t want to accidentally drop my little camera in the sound, or get it wet as we were pulled back onto the boat, we took a little disposable camera with us. Bill snapped a couple of pictures from up in the sky of the boat way below.
Before we left the boat, Alex asked us if we wanted to get wet when we were reeled back in. They can pull you directly onto the boat so you don’t get wet at all, or they can completely dunk you! We opted for somewhere in the middle.
OK, so now he’s just playing with us. We were totally at his mercy!
Bill and I had an amazing time! We were up in the air for about twenty minutes and could see for miles. We were too far south on the sound to see our house, but it was fun trying to pick out the sights we are familiar with! I’d go again in a second! 🙂
- Are you afraid of heights?
- Have you ever been parasailing?
- Would you have opted for a total dunking at the end?
