Welcome to Race Linkup, a monthly linkup opening on the last Monday of every month and staying open for four weeks. Link your race schedule so everyone can see who else will be at the next race and we can arrange meet-ups with other bloggers and our readers. You can link up your race schedule every month or only when you register for an additional race – you choose how often you want to get your schedule out there for other runners to see. I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my six simple rules.

I’m super excited that in less than two weeks, my OBX Half Marathon birthday weekend will be here. The only thing that would make it better would be if I were running the race on my birthday, not two days before. I’d rather be in my new age group than having to compete against the 55-59 year old youngsters. 😀 Looking back at the 2016 results, this is either a fast course or speedy runners show up, and I have very little chance of an age group place; however, I can still race against myself and try to set a half marathon PR. My current half PR is 1:54:34 (8:45 pace). Assuming that on race day my GI tract is cooperative (always an issue for me), I don’t get sick just before the race, and we don’t have high heat, horizontal rain, or some other sort of annoying weather conditions, I’ll give it my all. Should anything not be ideal for a PR, I’ll settle in and run the race just for the fun of it.

Please let me know if you’ll be at the OBX Half so we can look for each other!

As for the rest of my 2017 racing season, here’s what I’m planning, assuming that I stay healthy and injury free…

November 12 – OBX Half Marathon – Kitty Hawk, Outer Banks, NC
November 23 – Thanksgiving Day 5K – Crossroads UMC, Ashburn, VA
December 3 – Run With Santa – Reston Town Center, Reston, VA
December 10 – NOVA Jingle Bell 5K – Clyde’s at Willow Creek, Broadlands, VA

  • Questions:
  • Where do you stand within your age group, are you on the young end or are you about to move into a new one?
  • Are you running any of the races I have on my schedule?
  • Have you started looking at your  2018 race schedule?

Hope to see you at a race!
