Happy Mother’s Day to all my running mama friends! And in honor of the occasion, I thought you’d love the picture Don’s Johns tweeted this morning!

My Mother’s Day has been splendid so far! Daniel came over to spend the day, and we FaceTimed with Joseph and Julie in Chicago earlier this afternoon. Daniel picked up filet mignon and asparagus from Wegman’s that we’re going to make for dinner.

As I mentioned on Thursday, it took a few days for me to get moving after last weekend’s super fun Ragnar Trail weekend. I didn’t feel too badly because it seemed my other teammates were taking a few days rest as well, and while texting back and forth, Megan said, “The struggle is real this week.” As long as I’m not the only one, I’m good!

  • Monday
  • Rest

Between rain storms Tuesday afternoon I headed to my favorite local nursery to pick up flowers (annuals) to plant in the pots on my deck. Shortly after arriving home and unloading my car, it started raining again so I called it a day.

  • Tuesday
  • Rest

After determining that I had rested enough, I decided that Wednesday was the day to get back into the swing of things. After lunch, I headed outside to plant my flowers and just like that, I got my mojo back.

After dinner, and while waiting for Bill to get home from his trip to Austin, I headed to the basement to lift and do some yoga. It felt great, but let me tell you, after skipping lifting on Friday and Monday, the DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) was real on Thursday evening into Friday morning!

Thursday morning I met my running buddies on the trail for a run. We decided to keep it at a steady paced run rather than running at tempo. Even though only two of us had run Ragnar, our other two friends were happy to let us set the pace.

  • Saturday
  • Long Run – 8 miles at 9:49 pace
  • Yoga For Runners
  • Teeter – 15 minutes

Saturday morning I met my MRTT friends at 7 AM for our weekly long run. With all of the trail miles I covered last week, and the Spring Chicago Half Marathon only two weeks away, I decided to play it safe and only run eight miles.

I ran out 2.5 miles with my friends and and then turned alone to head back to the parking lot to pick up the Cruisers for the rest of my miles. Unfortunately, no Cruisers showed up so I headed back out, still alone and feeling a little sorry for myself (I could have hung with my MRTT friends if I’d known). I headed back toward the direction my friends would be coming from, and eventually met them for a fun last mile with company – thank you Melissa and Rachel!
