It’s time for Friday Five linkup with DC area bloggers Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?!, and Mar at Mar on the Run!  Be sure to stop by their blogs and say hello!  While you’re there, be sure to check out other bloggers who are participating in the linkup, too.  This week, with summer just around the corner, the DC Trifecta chose Five Favorite Summer Fruits and Veggies as the theme…..

of all fruit for preserving health.”

Our farmers market moved this year from the parking lot of a shopping center near our house to another shopping center about fifteen minutes away.  Since it’s soooooo far away, and I can’t possibly drive that far for fresh fruits, my fruit consumption is limited.  Guess I’ll just have to get my fruit the liquid way!

1. Lemon Drop Martinis – I happen to be the queen of lemon drop martinis.  One of my friends and I perfected the recipe a few years ago, and I guarantee if I make you one, you will thank me!  Yes, they are that good.  The recipe is a secret; however, if you ever come visit me, I will play bartender and make you one!

2.  Peach and Coconut Rum Breeze – I came up with this drink at the beach a couple of summers ago.  It’s easy to make and tastes so good!  Whenever I make one, Bill and I are instantly taken back to the beach!  It’s as simple as two parts Peach Mango Fuze and one part coconut rum. You’ll feel an ocean breeze with the first sip!

3.  Blueberry Mojitos – I’m a big fan of the classic mojito, although I don’t serve them often.  My recipe is quite complicated with muddling the spearmint leaves and all, but it’s worth the effort in the end.  I’m growing spearmint in my small herb garden this summer in hopes of enjoying these drinks a little more frequently.  Our favorite restaurant serves blueberry mojitos and I’m thinking of adjusting my recipe to include this delicious fruit.

4.  Classic Lime Margarita – The secret to a good margarita is top-shelf tequila.  My two favorites are Tres Generaciones Añejo and Milagro.  A margarita is only as good as its tequila…

5.  Strawberry Daiquiris – I haven’t had a strawberry daiquiri since my junior year of college…..  Let’s just leave it at that.

And there you have it – five great ways to get your daily servings of fruits…   😉
