Disclaimer:  Today’s post is a sponsored review, and even though I was provided with Natural Balance Foods Nakd Bars at no cost to me, all opinions are one hundred percent my own.

Last week I received an email from a marketing representative for Nakd natural protein bars asking if I’d be interesting in trying their bars and writing a review.  After a quick look at their website I agreed, and the bars were at my doorstep within a couple of days.

The first thing I noticed while perusing their website is that Natural Balance Foods is a young British company with a great sense of humor!  They set out to develop a bar that would not only be yummy, but would be extremely healthy; and I was happy to have the opportunity to give them a try.

I’m a big fan of having a snack bar tucked away in my gym bag for those emergencies when I don’t have time to eat a meal between client sessions, but need a quick snack to keep me going.  I don’t always know in advance that I’ll have to eat lunch later than planned, so I don’t necessarily carry an apple or banana with me.  Having a snack bar at the ready has kept me from being a hungry and grumpy trainer more than once, so I was happy to try a healthier snack bar than the ones I’ve eaten in the past.

My cute little Natural Balance Foods box was delivered by USPS using two-day priority mail (delivery is free in the United States through July 31, 2015).

I was sent the Eat Nakd Sampler Box (13 bar pack) which regularly retails for $16.99, but is currently on sale for $9.99.

With a wide variety of flavors to choose from, I immediately pulled the cocoa mint aside to save for later (my regular readers know my love of anything chocolatey/minty).  The first bar I tried was the cashew cookie, and it was delicious!  It was sweet, but not too sweet, and I didn’t feel like I was eating a candy bar like I do when I eat some of the other brands of bars.

NakdBars
I’ve eaten one bar a day so I could try as many as possible before I wrote the review.  So far they have all been quite good, and even though they each are very different flavors, they all have a similar slightly familiar taste.  Fortunately, it’s a nutty-fruity taste I like.

With a base of nuts (almonds, peanuts, and/or cashews), and all-natural flavors extracted from strawberries, raspberries, bananas, apples, nuts, cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices; their ingredients are all easily recognizable and easy to pronounce.

NakdBarOpen

Each raw fruit and nut bar comes in a tightly sealed wrapper and is:

  • Gluten free
  • Wheat free
  • Dairy free
  • 100% Vegan
  • Whole food smooshed together
  • Nourishing & delicious
  • Cold-pressed, never baked
  • No added sugar or syrups

The bars are soft, chewy, and yummy, but if you’re looking for one of the more traditional “healthy candy bars” (note sarcasm), these are not for you.  These are, however; my kind of snack, assuming fresh fruit isn’t readily available.  In other word’s, I’d consider Nakd bars a good emergency snack, and I’d buy them for just such purposes.
