There’s National Margarita Day (February 22), National Ice Cream Day (third Sunday in July), and there’s even a No Pants Day (first Friday in May), but what about fitness? Our calendar is chocked full of national holidays so I thought it would be a great idea to pull together these important dates for fitness lovers into one tidy spot.

In the world of fitness, we do have our own fun little dates to celebrate. Days created to bring attention to our specific sports; days I’ve celebrated in the past, and others I’d never heard of…

Important Dates For Fitness Lovers:

National Fitness Day – Saturday, May 5

Bike To Work Day – Friday, May 18

Global Running Day – Wednesday, June 6

International Yoga Day – Thursday, June 21

National Women’s Health & Fitness Day – Wednesday, September 26

National Family Health & Fitness Day – Saturday, September 29

Nutrition Day Worldwide – Thursday, November 15

Globally Organized Hug A Runner Day (GoHard) – Tuesday, November 20

Interestingly, I couldn’t find any days specifically geared toward weight lifting or strength training.

There you have it; as if you didn’t already have enough on your plate, I’ve given you eight more days to plan, organize, and celebrate! Start planning, and please let me know what I can bring!

  • Questions:
  • Do you already celebrate any of these special days?
  • What other fitness related days do you celebrate?
  • What’s the silliest “national day” you’ve heard about?
