I was a good girl ya’ll, and as a result, my weekly recap will be a little short in the what I got accomplished this past week in the workout department. If you remember, I promised my doctor that I’d keep a low profile for at least one week, and I did. Next week will be the true test. When strength training, I’ll continue with lower body exercises and will add in single-joint arm exercises that don’t cause me to flex my biceps – sorry push-ups, you’ll have to wait one more week. 🙁

I expected it to rain on me during my Tuesday morning hill repeats, but after a pretty sunrise, rainless clouds filled the sky. The weatherman was wrong once again and the rain didn’t hit until later in the afternoon. I finished six miles worth of solid hill repeats feeling strong.

I’d hoped to meet my friends on the trail for a long-overdue group run on Thursday morning, but stayed up way too late working on a blog post. I opted to just roll out my door and run locally, and plan to meet them this coming week for a couple of runs.

We did have a lot of rain over the course of week, but luckily since it was cold rain, my runs and the downpours didn’t overlap. Our yard is getting green, but the trees seem to be a couple weeks behind their usual schedule for leafing out. Our bleeding hearts are as gorgeous as always, though!

Friday evening we joined friends for a delicious dinner at Cooper’s Hawk. I felt fine when we got home and even when I woke up, but soon after getting out of bed, I was hit with a gastro ailment (just trying to keep it non-gross here) – no one else got sick so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the food. At 1 PM I felt better and headed out having finally eaten a bowl of cereal and fruit.

It was 71°, and with a lack of springlike weather, I’m certainly not acclimated to even a little warmth. While out on my 10-mile run I saw Bill on his way home from his 50-mile bike ride. Later I saw our Cruiser friend Joe and his family out riding as well. Stopping to visit with Bill at mile 4.5 and Joe at mile 8.25 helped break up my run. Other than one emergency bathroom stop, I had a pretty good run, all things considered. It was tough, but I averaged a 10:45 pace, so I can’t complain!

My ponytail has gotten crazy long and out of control. I can’t wait to get my hair cut after next Saturday’s race!

Right after I got in from my run, my friend Angela sent me a text to let me know that Cody had finished Ragnar Trail Richmond! If you remember, I gave all of the girls their very own Australian hunk to mark their glasses when they joined me for a girls’ weekend and to run the OBX Half Marathon in celebration of my 60th birthday last November. Back to Angela’s race, it sounds like all of our MRTT teams did great at Ragnar Trail Richmond this year and once again had to deal with storms and torrential downpours at least one night. I had more than a little Ragnar envy as my friends posted pictures from Richmond!

BTW, whatever I had is totally gone and I’ve felt fine since yesterday afternoon.

And that’s a wrap…

In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…

Looking ahead to this coming week…

  • Monday – Please feel free to join me for Race Linkup and let your friends know which races they can find you running in the next few months.
  • Wednesday – Please be sure to join me for my monthly Wednesday Word linkup where this month’s word is technical.

In addition to what I mentioned above, here’s a complete run-down of my workouts (completed mostly in our home gym) from this past week…

  • Questions:
  • How was your week?
  • Have you ever run a Ragnar or Ragnar Trail?
  • Did you race this weekend?

Have a great week!
