This past week marked the next to last week in my training cycle for the Grand Tetons Half which is just six short days away! Last week’s weekday runs were pretty much the same as all the other weeks in the training cycle; however, I have been cutting the miles back on my Saturday long runs and tapered down to six miles yesterday.

Tuesday morning I met my friends for hill repeats, but had to scurry away after we finished and I didn’t get a picture.

Due to a crazy busy Thursday (training clients, annual doctor’s appointment, and hair appointment), I ran alone on Wednesday morning rather than with my friends on Thursday. I’m sure my doctor appreciated the switch so I’d have time to shower before our appointment. 😉

While heading back to our house after my Wednesday morning run, I spotted a fox sitting in the middle of our cul-de-sac bathing himself. Once he saw me, he trotted off into our back yard. At the same time there was a squirrel sitting on the turret over our master bath taunting me. Some mornings, he (and his friends) wake us up by running laps on the roof.

Saturday morning I met my Cruiser friends Vamshi and Amit for what will be Vamshi’s last run with us before he and his family move back to India. I will miss him, but he promises to stay in touch and perhaps even write a guest post about what it’s like to run in India versus Virginia.

Bill timed it so he would be out biking and see us on our return so he could say his goodbyes to Vamshi as well.

Once home, I moved back into barbecue prep mode, where I’ve spent every spare minute since hitting up Costco on Wednesday afternoon. Since then I’ve been back to Costco, to the grocery store twice, and Home Depot once, all for picking up things for the party. It’s a labor of love, but boy does it take a lot of work. Currently we have 57 yeses, and 21 maybes; and yes, for the third year in a row it’s supposed to rain all afternoon. It’s gorgeous now (see picture below), so perhaps we should move our barbecue to the morning…

It’s time to shower and do beauty duty before our guests arrive, so that’s a wrap…

In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…

Looking ahead to this coming week…

  • Monday – Please feel free to join me for Race Linkup and let your friends know which races they can find you running in the next few months.
  • Friday – I’ll have another fun throwback recap, this one from the Herndon 10K just after I realized I was pregnant with our second baby.

In addition to what I mentioned above, here’s a complete run-down of my workouts (completed mostly in our home gym) from this past week…

  • Questions:
  • Have you had good running friends or exercise partners move away?
  • What are your weekend plans?
  • Did you race this weekend?

Have a great week!
