My Birthday Week

Contrary to how my friend Craig thinks I celebrated my birthday by barhopping and clubbing every night this past week (make that month), I kept it low-keyed. 😂😂😂 I worked a normal day and even opted to cook dinner on my actual birthday rather than going out. I met my good friend Vel for hot chocolate on Friday afternoon, which we capped off later with dinner with our husbands.

I was so busy on my birthday that I didn’t have a chance to look at Instagram until I fell into bed that night. I cracked up when I saw the four-picture story my son Daniel had posted hours earlier in honor of my special day. The first picture was of me holding Pablo as a puppy (he was such a little guy), the second was of Bill and me cross-country skiing when we lived in Utah, the third picture was of Daniel and me at the Grand Canyon this summer, and the last one was this… I laughed so hard!

Here’s the perfectly posed version of the above picture after I had determined that the red light was indeed flashing and my GoPro (affiliate link) was recording!

And Now on to a RunDown of this Past Week’s Workouts…

Running

Two of my runs last week were at zero dark thirty and solo and both reminded me that winter is on its way. It was 21° on Wednesday’s run and even though I felt fine wearing capris during my run, my legs itched like crazy for about a half hour when I got back into our warm house. Apparently, I need to invest in replacement long tights now that I’m older and my skin is more sensitive to the cold.

On Saturday, I meet my friends for a wonderfully fun run. My friend Tracy kept me accountable to my planned five miles and the two of us turned around at 2.5-miles. It was so great seeing everyone again since I haven’t joined a group run in over two months.

The funny thing about this picture is that I cut a person off of each end by trying to get them to spread out and not scrunch together. Normally, everyone forgets that I’m shooting in wide angle and move in really tightly together and as a result you can’t see half of my friends faces because they’re standing a couple of people deep. Before posting those pictures I end up cropping massive amounts of empty space on each side of my friends.

As I got ready to shoot the video, I told everyone to spread out, and they did! It’s a work in progress and one of these days we’ll nail it!

Here’s an uncropped picture from early September where everyone was scrunched together. Look at how much room we had to spread out…

Biking

After my run on Saturday, I hopped on my spin bike (affiliate link) for a few miles. I didn’t push that hard or ride super long, just pedaled away while watching ESPN College GameDay.

Strength Training

I completed all three of my weekly goal of three weight lifting workouts.

Yoga

I did three of my weekly goal of four yoga sessions.

It’s on the Blog

In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…

Coming up this week, I hope to get one more recap completed from the time we spent hiking in Southern Utah (I have three left).

In addition to the workouts I mentioned above, here’s a complete rundown of my workouts from this past week (completed either outside or in our home gym)…

  • Questions:
  • • Do you have any particularly funny stories about pictures you took, but deleted immediately?
  • • What’s the coldest temps you’ve experienced so far this year? Any snow? ~ We had snow flurries on Tuesday!
  • • Did you race this weekend?

And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!
