Setting My Sights for a Saturday Run

After weeks of physical therapy I have been feeling almost back to normal and my foot numbness has been all but non-existent the last few weeks. Saturday was going to be my big day! I was going to squeeze a few short run intervals into my walk, but my back had other plans. I’m pretty sure it all started on Friday afternoon when I lay down on our too-soft sofa for a quick nap. I knew better, but thought I’d be fine since I’ve been working so hard to make my core stronger. Long story short, I woke up Saturday with pain in my back making it nearly impossible to stand up straight. Luckily it seems to have been just a temporary setback and thanks to some Advil I’m feeling much better today.

Not to worry though, I thoroughly wasted most of Saturday in a full-fledged pity party and hardly got anything accomplished. I suppose we all need one of those days occasionally. This morning I brushed myself off, hopped on my stationary bike for a short and easy ride to work out the kinks and made sure I got off the bike before I overdid it.

Easter, CoronaVirus Pandemic Style

Just for fun and since I wasn’t able to workout, I put together a corona virus pandemic Easter basket on Saturday morning. What we’ll do for a few laughs on Instagram. 😉

Sunday morning we watched Easter mass in our basement on Facebook Live. Since Virginia’s “shutdown” began, our church has offered mass on Sunday via FB Live. Normally, I stand at our kitchen window with my laptop in front of me, but today I chose to sit on my bike and pedal easily as I watched. I hope that doesn’t seem irreverent, but under today’s circumstances I don’t think there are any rules.

April Walks and Flowers

On both Tuesday and Thursday mornings I headed out early for 4-mile walks and tried to keep my pace a little faster than I had been. On my last lap on Tuesday, I stopped several times to take pictures of the flowers in our neighborhood which seems to be exploding with spring colors!

Pink Dogwoods…

White apple blossoms…

Lavender Phlox…

Grape Hyacinths…

Virtual Training

Once of my favorite things about training my clients virtually is getting to see their animal friends. This cute pup is Tori who loves walking back and forth under her mom whenever she’s doing modified planks on the chair. Here Tori had decided to sit and rest under her mom!

And Now on to a RunDown of this Past Week’s Workouts…

Running

0 x 0 miles

Still no running, but I had planned to try a few running intervals during a walk this past week. See my first paragraph for why this didn’t happen…

Walking

4 x 1 to 4 miles outside

This past week I focused on picking up my pace when walking (with the exception of the lap when I took lots of pictures of flowers).

Biking

0 x 0 miles

Walking more left less time for riding.

Strength Training

3 x 1 hour
3 x 30 minutes of PT homework

What can I say, I’m almost as partial to strength training as I am to running!

Yoga

0 x 0 minutes

Nope, didn’t happen…

It’s on the Blog

In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…

In addition to the workouts I mentioned above, here’s a complete rundown of my workouts from this past week (completed either outside or in our home gym)…

Questions:
  • • What’s your favorite spring flower?
  • • If you celebrate Easter, how was today different than most years?
  • • Did you run in a virtual race this weekend?

And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!
