It’s time to sit down once again with a beverage of your choice and chat – I’ll remind you that I don’t like coffee or tea so my drink of choice today will be water. Let’s chat about things other than just running, cycling, strength training, yoga, and complaining about our most recent injuries. Sound good? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that despite having a few setbacks from February’s surgery and an unrelated skin cancer surgery, I’m happy with my monthly stats. I even got outside once for a bike ride!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that two weekends ago my husband took our two sons to Philly for the NCAA wrestling tournament for four days. They had a great boys’ weekend and I enjoyed a totally chill time of my own. Other than teaching one class on Friday, I had zero responsibilities. I went out for TexMex food and margaritas with a friend one night, met three other friends for lunch, got in some good spins and walks, went to church, finished up one book and almost finished another.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that one of our Dawn Patrol (cycling group) friends will be visiting from Florida next weekend. While he’s here we’re hosting a Dawn Patrol reunion. My husband has planned a group ride for Sunday morning, followed by a barbecue at our house.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that in preparation for the above event, I’ve been super busy getting our yard, garden, and deck ready. Our lawn guys did their spring thing – edging and mulching – and everything looks so good now. I do love spring!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that we came home from our visit to see Pablo (and the fam) to find a small tree had been blown down in our back yard (it can be seen in the second picture behind the pink water bottle). My husband hasn’t had a chance to cut it up, but he did manage to fit in five outdoor bike rides last week. He has his priorities set right!
He did use his huge backpack leaf blower to blow the sand off of our cul-de-sac, though. The street sweeper doesn’t necessarily come each year to clean up the sand dumped on the street after it snows and we (our neighbors included) were tired of the grit getting tracked into our houses. Who needs a street sweeper when you have a leaf blower and an amazing guy willing to do the work?

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • Have you started spring cleanup, either inside or out? ~ both
- • What would you do if you had four days to yourself with very few responsibilities?
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
Oh, your four days alone sounds amazing!!! If it were me, I’d probably make it into a “reading retreat.” I have so many books to read and so little time. I would love to just hunker down and read all day.
Your yard does look nice! Here, we’re hunkering down for a long hot summer and hurricane season. Sigh.
It was amazing! I’ve been reading a lot more recently since I haven’t been feeling as well and tire out more quickly so I’m finally making a dent in my pile of books on my nightstand.
Your stats are impressive, Debbie, especially considering all the health things you had going on! Well done!
And your garden looks great, Debbie! Will you be providing all the barbecue things and salads or will the riders contribute to the party, too?
Thanks, Catrina!
We’re providing the chicken, beef, and sides, but told our guests they could volunteer to bring a dessert if they wanted. If they want more than beer, soda, or water, we asked that they BYOB.
Glad you are able to get back to doing the activities you love. It’s a great time of the year for cycling around here. I am also working on getting the deck and back area ready. Always lots of work!
Slowly, but surely I’m getting there! 🙂
I am SOOO craving some outdoor biking! It’s been far too windy here. Even with temps in the optimal range (70F and higher, for me at least), the wind has been very biker-unfriendly. Your yard looks great! I need to get to work on some landscaping lans for my backyard. It’s a bit overwhelming, but it also a clean slate 😉
The weather here doesn’t look very promising this coming week for any outdoor rides unless I dig out my cold weather gear which I haven’t worn all winter…
Your weekend to yourself sounds perfect!
Great stats – happy to see you’re feeling good.
Thanks, Michelle, I’m getting there.
Wow, that’s a lot of sand left in your street! Kudos to your husband for clearing it. LOL on choosing bike rides over other yard work. I get those priorities!
VDOT seems to do that every year with the sand – it’s like they have a surplus and decide our street is a great place to dump it.
My husband got the tree cut up and moved this afternoon. 🙂
Sounds like a great weekend! You did almost everything I would have done too. Why is there sand in your cul-de-sac? It is used when it snows?
Yes, they use sand rather than salt on the side streets. It makes such a mess.
Too cold here!!!
I travel a lot and my hubby gets his peace and quiet.
4 days alone would be heaven – read, run, watch TV.
You guys are what, usually about 3 weeks behind us in spring arriving?
I am jealous of your spring cleanup because we still have snow in the forecast. Can you tell I’m over it? It’s freaking APRIL after all. Gosh I’d love an unencumbered weekend to myself. Glad you enjoyed it!
Snow in the forecast? Ugh! When we lived in northern Utah, we woke up to a light snow on Memorial Day weekend. It looked so funny because the irrigation systems had kicked on and melted the snow in giant circles all over campus.
