On Thursday, I posted One Word… and wrote the word “RUN” in several different languages; then asked if you knew which languages they were. I know them only because I googled them while writing the post. Not to brag, but I did know “run” and “unray” without looking them up.
Injury update: This morning I ran four miles alone, and finished just as my friend Vel showed up for our four mile walk. I felt really good afterward, too. Yay! As soon as I got home, I put my ice pack on my back, trained a client, foam rolled, and then just “hung out” for a while on my inversion table, and then iced my back again.
Most of the Cruisers, and a lot of other runners, were resting for their Cherry Blossom Ten-Miler tomorrow, so it was a quiet morning on the trail. While alone, I stopped to take a quick photo of a gorgeous cardinal sitting in a tree. A lady came along and asked if I was lost (she thought I was looking at the GPS on my phone). I wanted to say that I was trying to take a picture of a bird, until she scared it away, but I politely said that I could certainly understand that’s what it looked like I was doing. I did tell her that I had probably run about 4,000 miles on that trail in the past 15 years, so I knew my way around. Wonder if she was impressed? Bill and I just did a quick calculation and estimated that it’s probably closer to 10,000 miles… or more. OMG!!! OK, so that leads me to a great idea for a future post about the miles I’ve put on this body of mine!
We have friends coming over for dinner this evening. We are serving salmon, roasted veggies, a salad, and an outstanding Pinot Nior. Our friends are just about the world’s best cooks, so I’m thinking I might be a little crazy making salmon (his specialty) for them! Our friends are bringing the appetizer and dessert. I didn’t like salmon until about five years ago, and now I just love it!
- Questions:
- Did you talk in Pig Latin when you were little, or am I just weird?
- Have you ever seen the D.C. cherry blossoms?
- What’s your favorite wine?
I should have gotten the pig Latin one! That was the language in middle school 🙂
That inversion table looks like it would feel amazing.
Wow that’s a lot of miles on that trail! I have seen the Cherry Blossoms. When I was a kid I was in a circus club and I rode a 7 foot tall unicycle in the Cherry Blossom parade!
Favorite wine: white zinfandel
WHAT??? You can ride a unicycle! I’m very impressed. 🙂
Isn’t that amazing?! That blew my mind. Now whenever I see someone doing it I’m immediately going to think about Meagan!
The inversion table looks surprisingly comfortable.
That’s a LOTTTTof miles. I don’t even know if I’ve ever run that many miles in my life.
I snagged a last minute bib for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and I’m really excited for it. I did 19 miles today, so I definitely won’t be “racing” it, but I’ve never been in DC for peak bloom and I’m really excited that the race just so happens to overlap with it this year! Good luck to the Cruiser’s running it.
Are you going to carry your camera with you tomorrow during the race, since you won’t be racing it?
I’ve fallen asleep on the inversion table before…
I did! First time carrying my camera while racing! Wish the blooms would have been out!
You’ve now given a whole new meaning to the awful comment, “She looks like she’s got a lot of miles on her!” Now, after hearing that you’ve run THAT MUCH I, too, wish to have a lot of miles on me!
🙂
I actually have 2 inversion tables still in their boxes that I was going to return, but your picture is making me consider otherwise. How often do you use this and what areas do you feel are most helped by this?
I should use it every day for about 15 minutes, but I don’t always make the time. My main problem is that once my back starts feeling better, I’m don’t remember to use it regularly. My doctor said that he only recommends it to about 25% of his patients because it could actually be detrimental to some people. Anyone with any type of arthritic back problems should not use it. I use it to help decompress my spine, because at L4-L5 I have a tiny bulge which presses against my sciatic nerve, causing mostly leg pain and numbness in my toes.
We passed many a car trip talking in “igpay atinlay” in our family… 🙂
As much as I love exploring new trails, I do really enjoy the comfort and familiarity of an old favorite. Although I’m gonna have to park my life in one place for a lot longer, if I ever want to get 10,000 miles in on a single trail! 🙂
Maybe you can run 1,000 miles on ten different trails! 🙂
