I am taking a few days off of work to visit may parents and because you guys are so nice to me, I want to share a little secret with you.. I grew up in one of the most gorgeous places on earth!
This morning I got up and went for my run on the little country road that I started my running career on back in high school. Also, I probably logged about a million miles on my bike on that road when I was a little kid.
I left my parents’ house for my run just before sunrise so I could help the sun welcome another beautiful spring day!
It’s the most peaceful place that I have ever run… Today I didn’t see any vehicles, any other people, and only a few cows way up on a hill. The only sounds I heard were the gravels crunching under my feet.
With the sun up and to my back, I stopped long enough to take another picture. You can see my long early morning shadow!
Last night for dinner, Mom made one of my favorites… BBQ Chicken and Mandarin Orange Salad! She sauteed chicken breasts in a little BBQ sauce, and then put it on a bed of baby spinach and green leaf lettuce. Next she added cucumbers, onions (I usually use scallions), almonds, and of course lots of mandarin oranges. She topped it off with her homemade orange dressing!
- Questions:
- Are you a morning person?
- What’s your favorite salad?
- Did you grow up in the city, suburbs, or the country?
You did grow up in a BEAUTIFUL place! I’m a total morning person. Everyone in my household is fully functioning at 5AM (except the babe thankfully)!
Favorite salad- a bunch of juicy fruit and some feta!
I love fruit salads, too! 🙂
I love the countryside. Having grown up in the city, I was a lucky child as my parents bought a summer house so we could escape! I am not a morning person although old age seems to be creeping up on me! I now wake up between 4 and 5 am!!! Mom’s salad looks yummy! What time should I be there?
It is so pretty at your parents house! We have some of the most beautiful scenery in SWVA, don’t we?
I am only a morning running person for long runs and races 🙂 Or when the heat of summer really motivates me!
My favorite salad is grilled chicken over greens, with chick peas, sugar snap peas, grape tomatoes, sliced carrots, and catalina dressing. Yum!
I grew up in a suburb, but now I live in the country 🙂 I wouldn’t have it any other way.
It is gorgeous down there! I grew up desperately wanting a sidewalk in front of my house. 🙂 I just didn’t appreciate what I had; however, it would have been nice to have friends to play with.
Those pictures of where u grew up, looks like is a painting. It just looks so perfect and peaceful. Lucky you! I am now a morning person, I used to not be at all. I grew up in the suburbs.
Not so sure…I might have grown up in the most beautiful place on earth. I’ll share some photos from my next trip. 😉
That salad, though? Wasn’t where I grew up. And it looks DELICIOUS (and, even better, sounds super-simple to make!).
