Usually I’m in and out of a race expo pretty quickly, but not today! I went to the 2013 Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon Expo two times and stayed a total of almost three hours. This morning I picked up Bill’s, Joseph’s, and my race packets right after the expo opened.
While there I visited the venders’ booths and picked up a couple of things. I found this cute white Wine Country hoodie and just couldn’t resist buying it!
And I bought a SPIbelt for carrying my iPhone and other necessities on my runs. It rides low on your hips so it doesn’t bounce. When I tried it on, Megan, the sales rep, had to keep telling me to push it lower, lower!
Remember yesterday when I mentioned that I’ve been meaning to get team shirts for the Cruisers to wear at races? Well, I think I may have found a company to make them! These shirts are super cool and they do custom designs!
Back to the expo… In the center of the main room there were two tables set up with Deer Park water and plenty of cups for the runners to help themselves. Have you ever seen anything so cool? 🙂
Visit number two to the expo this afternoon was for Bart Yasso‘s seminar called “The Wit, Wisdom, and Insights of a Road Racing Icon.” It was really interesting and afterward he signed his book “My Life On The Run” for me. It was a pleasure to meet him!
After the seminar, I went to the patio just off of the expo area for their wine tasting. Of course a wine country event would have a wine tasting!
Ah yes, tasting wine on a beautiful patio on a beautiful afternoon! Nicely done, Destination Races, nicely done!
- Questions:
- Have you ever run in one of Destination Races’ wine country half-marathon events?
- Have you ever been offered a wine tasting at an expo?
- Are you racing this weekend?
Are all those wine glasses for you???
Have you thought about a T shirt design contest?
Have fun!
I like the idea of a contest! Thanks!
Now That is my kind of expo They had wine after the race today but at 8:30 AM that was the last thing on my mind Emma @ a mom runs this town
Love the scenery along the course! It was hot here too, got up to 100.
Geez, it was 100 where you are and I’m whinning about 82 degrees! 🙂
That looks like a great expo! I love that they had water in the center for everyone. I like your new blog design, too 🙂
I’ve never been offered a wine tasting (or any alcohol tasting for that matter) at an expo before!
Thanks! My blog theme needed updating and once I updated it, it had the new design. Usually the update changes are so minimal I don’t even notice what they are. I was pleasantly surprised! 🙂
