Wow! Today was a busy day with the Cruisers’ W&OD Trail 45-Mile Ultramarathon Training Event going on ALL. DAY. LONG! We got up at 3:30 to get ready and get the car packed to drive to the start of our run out in Purcellville, Virginia.
After a minor little snafu, we got going and arrived at the trail about 50 minutes late and immediately got started running in the 98% humidity. I ran the first leg with our ultramarathoner… yep, we had one Cruiser go the full 45-miles; but I’ll get those details to you tomorrow when I write up a full recap. I did spill the beans with a tweet yesterday after we finished, so if you follow me on twitter, you know who that ultramarathoner is. If not, I’ll tell you tomorrow!
I’m celebrating today’s accomplishments by wearing one of my favorite shirts tonight! You can’t see it, but the far left of the green line says, “26.2” and the gray line wraps all the way around and….
On the back it says, “ultra!” How appropriate! 🙂
And now for a little R & R! Compression socks and pizza… the perfect post long-run combination!
- Questions:
- What did you do today?
- If you follow me on twitter, did I go overboard with the tweets?
- What was the weather like today where you live?
You deserve that whole pie!

HaHaHa! As typically happens after most of my long runs, I was so tired that I only ate those two slices!
Can’t wait to read the full story! My Dad shared some details with me. I’m not on Twitter but because of him I think I may have some “inside information” 🙂 Pro Compression and pizza is definitely the perfect post-run combination!
It is really hot and humid here today. I think we’re in for that kind of weather all week this week.
Your dad is the sweetest! He met up with us in Vienna and rode his bike with the runners for about 3.5 to 4 miles. I was crewing at the time so I didn’t get to spend any time running with him. I forgot to take a picture of him with the runners! What kind of blogger am I? 🙂
Next time you talk to him, get him to tell you about the police cruiser that was flying down the road and whipped across the trail right in front of us to get onto I66!
I think it’s great that your dad participated! I love it!
Can’t wait to read the full recap. Enjoy the pizza and way to rock the socks!
I’ll give you a little hint… I’m as proud of our new Cruiser ultramarathoner as you are of Beans’ recent race performances. 🙂
SO EXCITED to read! And so happy for you!
Way to go Joe!!! I’m exhausted just thinking about it haha. I wish I had come out – the day got away from me somehow!! That pizza looks delicious too!
I wish you could have joined us for part of the run! It’s Paisano’s Pizza and it was delicious!
I could not agree with you more: compression socks, water, pizza and TV!
Congrats to the mystery (I read today’s post) ultramarathoner!!
There’s nothing like relaxing after a long run! 🙂
I WANT that shirt!! Where did you get it?!
I got it last summer or the summer before from Potomac River Running Store. It’s made by Oiselle and runs very small. I had to get a large and I usually wear a small. Maybe you can find it online… Good luck!
