Back in April I heard about the DIVAS Half Marathon & 5K Series coming to Virginia and I was pumped! I immediately sent out a note to the Cruiser chicks to see who wanted to run the race with me. I even envisioned us wearing matching tutus!
The very next night, Julie called to tell me that there was going to be a Hokie Half Marathon in Blacksburg and I was so excited that I almost peed my running shorts! I think my enthusiasm showed in the following day’s post, BEST. NEWS. EVER = Hokie Half Marathon. Yeah, I get pretty excited about some things! And then it happened… I realized that it was the same weekend as the DIVAS Half… I am a Hokie first, and a DIVA second, so the decision was easy and I signed up for the Hokie Half!
This summer the rug was pulled completely out from under me when it was announced that there would be a Dulles Day 5K on the Runway as part of the Dulles International Airport plane pull. Naturally it’s the same weekend as the other two races, and I won’t be able to do it. I love planes and all things airport related, so I would be like a little kid in a candy store if I could run in this race! My friend, Jessica, is going to run the race (I am green with envy), and promised to write a guest post for me next week.
Good luck to my friends Linda and Emma when you run in the DIVAS Half! Jessica, have a blast at the Dulles Day 5K; and Meagan, Barry, and Julie, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the Hokie Half. Happy racing everyone!
- Questions:
- What’s the coolest race you’ve run in?
- What’s the coolest race that you wanted to run in, but couldn’t?
- Who’s racing this weekend?
Wish I could be there with you and Meagan! Have a GREAT run, Debbie!
Thanks! Maybe someday we can run a race together!!!
Can’t WAIT to see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
This is a BIG weekend! Go girls GO!
Run fast, Emma!
I think coolest I’ve run in so far is the Foam Fest obstacle run.
Haven’t seen one yet that I wanted to run but couldn’t.
I’ve got a race on Sunday morning! Surftown 5K!
Good luck and have fun!
Good luck tomorrow! Maybe I can join you and Meagan at the Hokie Half next year! I’m doing a local trail race, and then it’s time for my daughter’s bday party. Yippee!!
Good luck at your trail race, and happy birthday to Bean! 🙂
Ahhh I’m sorry all those races fell on the same day! But I think you made a good choice 🙂 Have a great time in Blacksburg this weekend! Give Julie a hug for me 🙂
I will! We just had dinner together! 🙂
Poor planning on all three race director’s parts! Didn’t they realize you’d want to do all three races!? I am glad Hokie trumps all (as it should) and I’m excited to see you this weekend!
Hmmm coolest race I’ve run in. That’s a hard one…. I guess it’s a toss up between the Blue Ridge Half (running up a mountain is pretty cool when you get to the top!) and the Varmint 1/2 (because Burke’s Garden is neat and there are sheep trophies at the finish).
The coolest race I’ve always wanted to do: Walt Disney World Half with the Donald Duck medal, because Donald Duck is 100x cooler than Mickey. And I want to do the Disney Princess Half Marathon.
I’ve never done a Disney race, but I’ve heard they’re fun (but crowded). I learned this afternoon that three other Cruisers are signed up for the Dulles Day 5K. It would be on my list of the coolest races. Funny, huh? That’s I’d pick running a race all on concrete as the coolest race I’d like to run!
What time are you stopping by the Expo? We’re planning to hike to the Cascades tomorrow morning, but we have to be back by noon to watch the game. We might go pick up our packets at half-time. 🙂
