I have a deep-seated weariness that I haven’t experienced in a very long time.  It’s the kind of weariness that I used to experience after I spent the day cutting the grass, spreading mulch, and planting flowers, after going on a long run with the Cruisers earlier in the morning!  The only difference is that today I ran 14 miles and came home to work on my blog and make Bill’s birthday dessert!  That’s it; and I’m exhausted…  I’ve been fighting a cold all week, so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it.  Also, today was the first day I’ve run since last Wednesday, the day before the snowstorm hit (although I have worked out on my spin bike several times).

I didn’t get to bed until midnight last night and when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, I’d already been awake twice during the night.  Suffice it to say that I didn’t get a good night’s sleep.  Hmmmm……….  Perhaps that’s part of my problem!

It was pretty cool that when I met my MRTT friends at 6:30 we didn’t need headlamps for the first time since I started running with them.  We were treated to this glorious sunrise and I realized that despite my lack of a good night’s sleep, all was good in my world!

Power lines along the W&OD Trail make photos difficult

At our turnaround point we stopped for a quick photo.  Elizabeth, one of our two chapter leaders, ran her first eleven-miler today!  Prior to today, ten miles was her distance record.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t with her when she ventured into maiden territory, because at the end of eight miles I peeled off to join the Cruisers for six more miles.

Along the way, we ran into Vamshi, Murali, and Ravi.  They had to run a little earlier and finished their nine miles right as the Cruisers were starting.  Since Vamshi has become a new dad to an adorable little baby boy, he’s been needing to get out and run a little earlier, but we’ve been lucky enough to see him on the trail.

Back at the parking lot, Alan and Janet were waiting for me right as Vamshi and I finished.  Well, I wasn’t quite finished.  I still had another six miles to go!

Now on to the title of today’s post!  Today is Bill’s birthday and we celebrated by going to our favorite seafood restaurant, Ford’s Fish Shack.

The birthday boy ordered jumbalaya…

And the rest of us ordered salmon.  Yes, we know what we like, and apparently we all like the same thing!  It was as delicious as it looks!

We came home to watch Moonstruck (Bill has been wanting to watch that movie again for months) and had birthday brownies with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce!
