I have a deep-seated weariness that I haven’t experienced in a very long time. It’s the kind of weariness that I used to experience after I spent the day cutting the grass, spreading mulch, and planting flowers, after going on a long run with the Cruisers earlier in the morning! The only difference is that today I ran 14 miles and came home to work on my blog and make Bill’s birthday dessert! That’s it; and I’m exhausted… I’ve been fighting a cold all week, so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it. Also, today was the first day I’ve run since last Wednesday, the day before the snowstorm hit (although I have worked out on my spin bike several times).
I didn’t get to bed until midnight last night and when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, I’d already been awake twice during the night. Suffice it to say that I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Hmmmm………. Perhaps that’s part of my problem!
It was pretty cool that when I met my MRTT friends at 6:30 we didn’t need headlamps for the first time since I started running with them. We were treated to this glorious sunrise and I realized that despite my lack of a good night’s sleep, all was good in my world!
At our turnaround point we stopped for a quick photo. Elizabeth, one of our two chapter leaders, ran her first eleven-miler today! Prior to today, ten miles was her distance record. Unfortunately, I wasn’t with her when she ventured into maiden territory, because at the end of eight miles I peeled off to join the Cruisers for six more miles.
Along the way, we ran into Vamshi, Murali, and Ravi. They had to run a little earlier and finished their nine miles right as the Cruisers were starting. Since Vamshi has become a new dad to an adorable little baby boy, he’s been needing to get out and run a little earlier, but we’ve been lucky enough to see him on the trail.
Back at the parking lot, Alan and Janet were waiting for me right as Vamshi and I finished. Well, I wasn’t quite finished. I still had another six miles to go!
Now on to the title of today’s post! Today is Bill’s birthday and we celebrated by going to our favorite seafood restaurant, Ford’s Fish Shack.
The birthday boy ordered jumbalaya…
And the rest of us ordered salmon. Yes, we know what we like, and apparently we all like the same thing! It was as delicious as it looks!
Joseph and Daniel…
And the five of us!
We came home to watch Moonstruck (Bill has been wanting to watch that movie again for months) and had birthday brownies with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce!

Happy Birthday to Bill!!
Thanks, Vicki! I’ll pass your well wishes on to Bill.
Happy Birthday, Bill! My favorite thing for my birthday is just hang out with my friends at home and cake…of course, cake.
I hope you’re feeling better really soon, Deb!

Thanks, Courtney!
Happy Birthday, Bill! I like to go out for seafood for my birthday, too. 🙂 Usually at Red Lobster.
One of my most favorite old movies is “The Little Colonel.” The whole movie is great, but the best part is when Shirley Temple tap dances on the stairs with Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
I hope you’re able to get some rest at night and start feeling less tired soon!

And, I made him crab cakes for dinner tonight! Lucky guy!
Aw! happy birthday to him! I’m so glad he had a great day!
I love Gone With the Wind, The Best Years of Our Lives and the original Miracle on 34th Street. Also, Ben Hur and the Ten Commandments. 🙂
I am super boring in restaurants, and very rarely deviate. We don’t eat out a ton, so I like to get the things I either love or can’t make at home.
I love to get up early on my birthday and do some kind of day trip to somewhere within a few hours. Eat out, enjoy ice cream and wine, and just spend time with loved ones.
I agree, spending relaxing time with family is big on my birthday wish list, too!
Happy Birthday to Bill!! Love that your whole family could be together to celebrate. I’m sure the birthday boy loved his homemade dessert. YUM!

Yes, we got lucky that Julie was in town for the weekend!
Happy Birthday to Bill! Your boys are so handsome 🙂
I do tend to order the same things at my favorite restaurants, but I will sometimes try to break out of the box. When we had dinner at our favorite restaurant over the weekend I ordered something completely different. So proud of myself 🙂
