Today’s post is a replay from last Memorial Day weekend…
On this Memorial Day weekend, let us not forget those who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we might live freely in this beautiful country. May God bless our nation’s heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery; and we must not forget those who have been wounded and struggle every day to live as they did before they served our country. If you have served in one of the branches of our military, thank you!
My friend Jim recently posted on Facebook, “… every Memorial Day, I go to Arlington National Cemetery… and get to hang out with our Nation’s heroes.” Beautifully said Jim, and thank you for allowing me to use your two photographs.
From Arlington National Cemetery, the Washington Monument can be seen in a distance. We truly have a beautiful nation’s capital.
The sun shining through our backyard American flag was so beautiful that I stopped cutting the grass and grabbed my camera. I’m so glad that I took the time to appreciate this beautiful sight!
Our bluebird is feeling very patriotic on this Memorial Day. He loves sitting on the flag pole watching his surroundings almost as much as Bill enjoys photographing him.
Blessings to you this day as you spend time with family and friends reflecting on our many heroes. I am heading off for a run, and then I’ll spend my day preparing to host family and friends for our annual barbeque.
- Questions:
- Have you ever visited Arlington National Cemetery?
- What are your Memorial Day plans?
I love going to Arlington National Cemetary. I love that I can literally drive 10 minutes and be there, It is such a beautiful and powerful place. Being a veteran myself I find an even stronger and deeper connection than I ever thought possible. Unfortunately I will be working most of Memorial day weekend. Someone has to take care of the sick kiddos!
Thank you for serving our country, Sue!
nicely said! enjoy your weekend.

Thanks; you, too!
Very nicely said and beautiful pictures. I’ve never been to DC, but would love to visit some day and I know I want to visit Arlington. I’d probably just cry the whole time I”m there. LOL
I’m heading out to power wash the house and deck and then tomorrow our friends are coming to help us put up our pool for the summer. Enjoy the weekend!

Bill power washed the house today while I was in class. We have about 75 people coming over tomorrow for our annual barbecue!
Beautiful.
I have never been to Arlington. We were supposed to go out of town to visit friends but I got sick. Instead, I am home and Mr PugRunner and little man are at a parade with the grandparents and will spend the rest of the day at the pool. Hopefully, we will all run in a Memorial Day 5K on Monday.

Hope you feel better soon! Enjoy your 5K if you’re able to run.
I’ve only been to Arlington National Cemetery once and it was a truly incredible experience.
I agree – we should honor those who served our country.
Lately we have been to several military funerals and they about do me in emotionally. I told my husband at one that I don’t want them to hand me a flag that way any time soon (he is a military pilot)!!

Please thank your husband for serving our country!
Land of the free, because of the brave. I’ve been to Arlington National Cemetery many times, and it always takes my breath away.
My Memorial Day weekend plans are to go on a trail run (done), hang out with friends on Sunday, and then do a bunch of stuff around the house on Monday (Barry will be at work). Hope you have a great Memorial Day!
It’s beautiful, and I love that the Marine Corps Marathon runs right past it. Bill’s grandparents are buried there…
What a beautiful tribute! I’ve not visited Arlington National Cemetery but I have been to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in STL which is a very large military cemetery. My grandfather is buried there. It is beautiful
I’m going to a Memorial Day Parade with my grand kids. Enjoy your day!

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day! That bluebird on top of the flag photo is gorgeous.
I’ve never been to DC but would love to go one day! Kelly went on business and did all the sightseeing; I was totally jealous 🙂

DC is a beautiful city to tour, but you’d have to leave a little time open for a trail run with me!
