What do you get when you combine ten Cruisers, seven MilesRun members, one MRTT runner, and one guest? A whole lot of fun, that’s what! Today was the whatever-annual Miles’ Pancake Run. For years Miles and his wife hosted the event at their home in Maryland, but last year they had their house on the market so Bill and I volunteered to host.
If you’ve read my blog for more than a week, you know that I love to host parties so I was more than willing to move the event to Virginia. Permanently. Sorry Miles, but you’re not getting this baby back. It’s the least I can do to thank you for your years of mentoring me!
Before our run we had to get a group picture because that’s how we runners roll. I know I’m biased, but what a good looking group of runners!
After a few short announcements and thank yous, we were off and running!
I ran ahead and took a few horrible pictures and this one was the best. Seriously, this one was the best one. Sorry Becky that the sun is washing out your face!
Fortunately, Jerome had my back and took a lot of pictures and video. He snapped this picture of John and Wookie stopping traffic to cross the road. This is a great example of how awesome the W&OD Trail is… Runners, walkers, bikers, roller-bladers, and horses all share the trail.
Amit’s daughters surprised us with a Gatorade stand set up along the trail! Not only were they offering free Gatorade to our group, but to all of the other trail users as well!
- Questions:
- Which would you choose: pancakes, waffles, quiche, or a breakfast casserole?
- Which would you choose: Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or chocolate milk?
- Who’s racing this weekend?
I saw the words “brunch” and I had to read your post hahahaha. I prefer pancakes AND waffles but that’s just me wanting to eat everything on my rest day 😉

Food always draws a crowd! 🙂
What a cute idea! I think i will file that away to do for our MRTT group sometime soon. I’d be too nervous about setting everything up for breakfast to run though. Oh and I’d go with pancakes and choc milk

I throw so many parties that my basement almost sets itself up! HaHaHa! Everyone brings food or drinks and that takes a lot of stress off of me. I think you and your MRTT ladies would love this!
Awesome!!!!!
Quiche, mimosa and we did a one mile fun race this weekend with little man.
What a great event! Looks like you all have a wonderful time! I need to look into doing something like this!

How many races has Little Man done? I love that he gets into racing, too!
That looks like so much fun! I would choose the breakfast casserole and a mimosa of course 🙂 looking forward to seeing you next weekend!

Yes, next weekend is going to be fun! Will you be there Friday evening?
Pancakes. Always choose pancakes. That sounds like a good time and you had a nice sized group of people!

When we plan these event we never know who’s going to be available to join us, especially during vacation season, so I was thrilled with the turnout!
What a super fun idea!!
I’m not always super hungry after running but I would definitely enjoy a mimosa!!!

It’s always good to rehydrate after a run! 😉
Glad to see another year of Miles Pancake Run was a success! I love the photo of all of the colorful running shoes outside, haha. It’s so hard to choose between pancakes, waffles, quiche, and breakfast casserole. But tonight I’m leaning towards the quiche 🙂

You know it’s a fun group of friends when the shoes left out back are running shoes!
