After hurting my foot running trails at Hungry Mother State Park, I took most of the first part of last week off to let it recover. Bill and I were heading to Blacksburg on Friday morning for our last trip of this football season, and we really wanted to stop near Roanoke and run up to McAfee Knob on our way to Blacksburg. And our adventure was dependent upon my foot healing!

Wednesday
Since my foot was feeling so much better, I decided to give it a trial run of 1 mile to see how it would do. It felt great and I ran at a 9:30 pace with no discomfort. At the end of my mile, I walked 3 more miles at a 14:27 average pace.
Thursday
After a successful Wednesday run and walk, I decided it was fine to join my MRTT friends for 5 miles on Thursday morning (9:27 pace). Again, I had no pain and was thrilled!
Later in the day, I got word that our new MRTT shirts were in, so I drove to Erin’s house to pick mine up. I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I was to see DebRuns.com on the back, alongside several other amazing sponsors!
Friday
Bill and I were looking forward to our trail run up to McAfee Knob as much as a little kid looks forward to Christmas. After our run, my RunKeeper said that we ran 8.12 miles, but according to what we read online it’s more like 8.5 miles round trip. I’m not sure which is correct, but my lack of confidence in my mobile phone app is just another reason I’m hoping to get a Garmin soon. I’ll be doing a complete McAfee Knob recap on Wednesday, so stay tuned!
We woke up to 37° and a wintery mix in the early morning weather forecast for Saturday morning (at least we didn’t get 3 inches of snow like Mom did). Fortunately, we have a friend that lives in Blacksburg, and she opened her home to us for our tailgate. Unfortunately, we still had to brave the elements to watch the game. Even more unfortunately, we lost the game. And what’s worse than that? I left just after halftime, because I was freezing cold and it had started to drizzle. I walked back to our car and listened to the rest of the game on the radio in the comfort of 74°!
Sunday
Rest (and drove home from Blacksburg)
Tomorrow I’ll be starting a Feetures socks giveaway! Be sure to come back, and enter!

- Questions:
- Did anyone get snow this weekend?
- How did your sports teams do? ~ All of my teams lost!
- Who raced this past weekend?
We did get some snow on Sunday but it didn’t stick around. I’m still refusing to turn my heat on in the house but as I’m typing this and can’t feel my fingers, I may be caving by tonight. LOL

Compared to you, I’m quite the wimp! I’ve been turning my heat on and off as needed for weeks, and I’m sure it’s been a lot colder up there!
i can’t believe the weather — it’s been so crazy! soooo chilly. can’t wait to read about your run 🙂

We got really lucky with our run. The next day it was so cold and windy, and with the rain overnight, it would have been very slippery.
I ran a 10k in brutal wind. There were parts where we all looked like cartoon characters – running but going nowhere. Ha Ha. My time was off but I did get a 3rd AG placement. McAfee Knob looks awesome.

Congrats on your 3rd place in your age group! You’re having a great year!
I’m very much a fair weather fan – I always root for my team but I’m perfectly happy to do it inside where it’s warm and dry. Friday and Saturday were cold (in the 20s Friday night) but today we are in the 60s again!!

We’ve snapped back to much warmer, too. It’s supposed to get up to 70° tomorrow afternoon!
No snow, but lots of wind. So my leaves have not been raked yet – if it snows before they are raked, they’ll be sitting there until spring! And how awesome does your site look on the back of that shirt? So cool!
Thanks! I was so thrilled to see Deb Runs on the back! 🙂
Your runs look spectacular! Sorry to hear about VT!

My Hokies stink this year. 🙁 We’re started out as a young team, and now we’re a young team with a lot of injuries…
What a great comeback for you!
No snow here, but we did have to turn on our heat. The nights have been in the 40s, and that’s just a little too chilly for us here in the Sunshine State. 🙂
It was a great weekend for my teams! Miami Hurricanes beat the Tar Heels and Miami Dolphins dominated the Chargers! It would have been nice to see a Jaguars win, but what can you do? Mr PugRunner is a Jets fan, and… well… I don’t think he’s ready to discuss what’s happening there.
No races this past weekend. I took a bit of a break.

Lows in the 40’s seems pretty cold when you’re not at all acclimated to the cooler temps!
Last trip? Are you passing up the UVA game? That would be a bummer. My dad, sister, and I are going to that one!
I’m glad to hear your foot is feeling better. Those are sweet shirts, and it’s even cooler that you’re one of the sponsors on the back. That’s big time! 🙂
“…another reason I’m hoping to get a Garmin soon.” Haha – wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Hope the boys come through for you!

Since the game is on Friday this year, we’re not going down. It would just be too much with hosting Thanksgiving the day before, then prepping for the tailgate, and then driving down that morning. We have two tickets to sell. Any interest?
Fingers crossed on the Garmin!
Makes sense. I’m actually in search of a set of 3 tickets, but thanks for the offer!
So glad to hear your foot was better and you were able to run!
Love that your site is on the back of the shirt- that’s awesome!

Thanks, Abby!
It was a great weekend here because the Steelers won their third consecutive game after a lousy start to the season. And we have won difficult games lately so all is good 🙂 We had a coldfront move in on Sunday night but it only brought cold rain, no snow, on Monday morning.

So I’ve got to ask you, as a huge Steelers fan, what do you think of their striped throwback uniforms?
