It’s time for Friday Five linkup with DC area bloggers Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?!, and Mar at Mar on the Run! Be sure to stop by their blogs and say hello! While you’re there, be sure to check out other bloggers who are participating in the linkup, too. This week for Good Friday, the DC Trifecta chose Five “Good” Things as the theme…..
“Praying that the Lord’s blessings
are always upon you
this Good Friday, and always…”
~ Unknown
If you’ve read my blog for very long, you know that with me, family comes first – always. Friends, my community, my church, and my country are up there, too. I have been blessed beyond words, and I’m thankful for so much. But today… today I’m going to list five little things that are good in my world. Little things that could easily go unnoticed in our hustle and bustle…..
1. Smelling grass that’s just been cut and mulch that’s just been spread
2. Hearing birds sing and watching them flit around from tree to tree
3. Seeing the sun rise earlier each morning, and set later each evening
4. Feeling freer in lighter running clothes and no gloves
5. Tasting the deliciousness of cannoli after Easter dinner
Life is good.
Stop, look, listen, smell, and taste the goodness around you!
- Questions:
- What are some good things in your life?
- What are your plans for this weekend?
- Who’s racing this weekend?
i love that you took the time to recognize the little things! Have s wonderful weekend!

Thanks, Courtney! Have a wonderful and blessed Easter!
You just reminded me how long it has been since I’ve had a cannoli! It’s great to appreciate the things that we can sometimes tend to take for granted. Have a very Happy Easter!

Having cannoli for dessert on Easter was always a tradition for my husband’s family, and we’ve carried it on. I’ve only developed a taste for them the last few years, though. Happy Easter to you, too!
I’m not usually a fan of canolies but that pic sure makes them look tasty. That Bunny cake is adorable. Happy Easter!

Thanks – making a bunny cake has been a tradition that my mom started when I was little. My husband’s family always had cannoli, so now we do both (although this year I’m not making the cake).
And these types of posts are why you are so wonderful… :o)

Awww thanks, my friend! 🙂
Those are some fabulous spring things that I am very much looking forward to. We were supposed to have Easter/Christmas with my family Sunday, but my uncle is very sick and my aunt just cancelled last night.

I’m so sorry to hear that your uncle is sick and that your Easter plans had to change. Hope you have a joyful Easter wherever you celebrate!
Love your bunny cake in the photo. we are having Easter brunch out, so no cooking this year for me!~ The big piece of goodness here is that my daughter just got engaged to a super guy!

Congrats to your daughter and your entire family! Happy Easter!
Oh, I love the smell of fresh cut grass! I have yet to smell it here in the city, but I know it’s coming!

One of my neighbors cut his grass two weeks ago. The smell was intoxicating!
The jasmine blooming is a good thing that makes me happy! You can smell it from a few houses away and it is such a happy smell! 🙂
Sounds wonderful!
They just laid down new mulch at my house yesterday and I love the smell of it. My husband thinks I’m crazy, but it just always reminds me of springtime and warm weather. 🙂 I hope you have a great weekend, Deb!

Great list of good things! Although grass makes me sneeze, it does make it feel springlike. I am looking forward to riding my bike outside this weekend.

Love this list. Wednesday they were working around our building when I got in for the morning, and they whole lobby smelled of fresh cut grass, loved it.

I love the smell of fresh grass!! This past week has had temps warm enough to sit outside most afternoons – that is pretty good in my world right now!!!

It sounds like the weather has been wonderful there. It’s been very comfortable for working outside here, but still a bit too cool to just sit and relax.
those cannoli look amazing!

Well said. I love all the “yard” senses. The extra bright green of spring trees against a clear blue sky is my favorite sight. I hope you have a wonderful Easter with your family. And, I say YES to cannolis!

For me, the smell of freshly cut grass brings back such great memories of growing up on a farm!
Happy Easter!
My husband would absolutely destroy that plate of cannoli.

Not if my husband beat him to it! 🙂 And Happy Easter to you, too!
I’m not a fan of the cut grass smell – I think it is because I associate grass with a runny nose and allergies! But I am loving the signs of spring – the buds on the trees, the longer daylight hours, the warmer weather. Life is good! Happy Easter to you and yours, Debbie.

Other than our weeping willow starting to turn green, we don’t have any trees with decent buds yet. I’m hoping to get downtown for a run around the cherry blossoms this spring.
those little things are the best!!
