Holly from HoHoRuns tagged me to answer some fun non-running questions. Her answers were quite entertaining, and I hope to make mine half as fun…
What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
If I hadn’t gotten my degree in health and physical education, I would have loved studying either turf management or meteorology. Crazy, huh?
Have you ever met someone famous?
Yes, I met Joe Gibbs, the head coach of the Washington Redskins, back when my sons were young. He got in line at the grocery store behind us one morning and started a conversation with me. He told me that I had to fine looking young men (Joseph was four and Daniel was two), and to enjoy them while they were young. He said that in a blink of an eye they’d be in high school like his sons – and he was right. I’ve also known a few Redskins players over the years. I either met them when our children played Little League together or I’d talk to them at the gym, and today a couple of retired Redskins are our neighbors.
What is something you hope will never come back in style?
Huge eyeglasses – remember the late 70’s? Fortunately, I didn’t wear eyeglasses at the time, and didn’t make that fashion faux pas, but when I look back at pictures of my mom and friends, I cringe. I now need glasses, but prefer to wear my contacts. On the days I choose to wear my glasses, I want them to be small and cute.
What is one thing on your travel must-see bucket list.
I’ve not made it to southern Italy yet, and really look forward to a visit there. I’d love to go back to the Tuscan region for a few days, and then head south to the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Capri, and Naples.
Who would you want to play in a movie of your life?
Definitely someone funny and goofy who doesn’t take life too seriously… Perhaps Julia Roberts?
Who is your favorite Disney princess?
I raised sons so I’m not familiar with Disney princesses. J and D liked watching both Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid when they were really young, so I guess I could go with either Belle or Ariel. I always liked Ariel’s clam-shell bra, so I think I’ll pick her.
What would you sing at karaoke night?
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa! Not in a million years would I sing karaoke. I believe in treating others as I would like to be treated, and I just wouldn’t do that to anyone.
Who would you want to be stranded on a desert island with?
The correct answer is my husband.
What clothing item/accessory/shoes do you have way too many of in your closet?
My closet holds approximately 19 pairs of yoga pants, 45 pairs of running shorts, and the race shirt from almost every race I’ve ever run. After a few more races I’ll have to build a larger closet or move.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
I know that my writing is far from perfect and I take liberties with grammar and punctuation often, but it drives me nuts when I see or hear have ran. The correct past participle is have run.
- Present – Today I run.
- Past simple – Yesterday I ran.
- Past participle – I have run every day this week.
Whew, I’ve wanted to put that out there for a long time! Feel free to red line this post and send it back to me for corrections! 😉 Ill make corekshuns and git it bak to you at my earlist convinence.
If you’d like to play along and answer these questions, consider yourself tagged!
- Questions:
- If you could go on a five-mile run with anyone, who would you choose?
- How would you answer any of these questions?
- Did you race this weekend?
these are great questions!!
5 mile run- I’d have to say Shalene. However, she runs so fast she’d be done before I finished 2 miles…
I’d answer the Karaoke question the same way you did…NO WAY!
No racing this weekend for me. I had a 6 mile long run yesterday as I am just starting HM training for a half in October.

You are correct about Shalene finishing by the time both you and I would get to mile two; but wouldn’t it be fun to talk to her while stretching out after the run?
Hah these were fun to read! Funny enough, I was just cleaning out my closet a bit this morning and I’d have to say I have too much of everything right now!

It’s easy to buy new, and hard to get rid of the old!
Ha ha. Loved it. You did better than I did! I wear mono vision contacts so I can avoid the glasses. My glasses from junior high were hideous!

I had 40/40 vision until my 40’s… I wear multi-focal lenses and love them, but if I’m reading a lot, my eyes tend to dry out so I wear my glasses then.
Love this! I too would have considered a career in meteorology. I love the weather, have since I was a kid and could call the “weather lady” on the phone to get the forecast. Dork!
I was tagged in this one too, and I’ll be posting mine later this week. This was a fun one!
