Welcome to Wednesday Word, a weekly linkup for everyone, not just health and fitness bloggers. Each Wednesday you will have a single word prompt to write about. Let your imagination run free and share with your readers your interpretation of that word, or simply use it as inspiration for your post. Today’s word is energetic….. I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my six simple rules.
Energetic – having or showing a lot of energy
~ Merriam-Webster
My friends call me the Energizer Bunny, and that’s exactly what my friend Bob wrote when he signed this Cruisers’ picture presented to me a few years ago.
In reality though, I have two switches – on and off. I can get more done in one day than most people can get done in a week; or, I can flop on the sofa and wile away an afternoon watching college football or a Fixer Upper marathon…
When thinking of runners being energetic, I wonder which comes first, the chicken or the egg? Are we runners because we’re energetic, or are we energetic because we’re runners? I think it’s a little of both. I know that I have a lot of energy because I’m in a regular exercise routine, and my clients tell me that they gain energy once they get in the swing of things with their new workout routine.
I’m also highly motivated and energetic when I have physical projects to work on as opposed to office projects – think painting and doing yard work versus writing this blog post. 😉 As a result, the beautiful weather lured me outside and I spent seven hours being energetic instead of writing about being energetic.
Without a doubt this is my shortest Wednesday Word post because this highly energetic person needs to go to bed. My 4:30 AM alarm is just a few hours away and tomorrow’s to-do list is a mile long…

Exercising makes me more energetic, because truly, I’m team lazy. Most of my hobbies, outside of fitness, are very sedentary! Including blogging!

Yeah, I’ve discovered blogging is very sedentary. I am; however, riding my stationary bike as I reply to comments!
Being outside and running make me energetic.

Good point, because yes, just being outside makes me more energetic.
I rarely am bouncing-off-the-wall energetic but I do have the perseverance to keep going – whether it’s a run, a hike, or even a ork project! I’ve yet to try a post-run jump photo!

I used to refer to myself as a person who “sprinted through the house” getting stuff done, but I don’t have the energy I used to have…
Come run with me and my friends and we’ll do a post run jump!
I definitely think that energy breeds energy — sometimes a quick walk break in the afternoon at the office is just what I need to get me through until it’s time to go! Especially if that walk is to Starbucks. But still . . .

I like that – energy breeds energy. And Starbucks just makes the walk better!
I know I have a lot more energy when I start the day with a workout! So when I hear people say they are “too tired” to workout in the morning–well, I just don’t get those people!

I’m just like you. My best days always start out with a great workout!
Love those jumps! Surrounding myself with positivity and sometimes just pushing through until I get there is the best way for me to stay energetic.

Thanks, Jenn! My running friends and I love taking those jump shots after our runs.
Since becoming a runner and exercise enthusiast, I can’t stand to be still for too long. So not sure which comes first!

I think you answered the question!
We are alike. Check out my post today.

Dear Energizer Bunny, We even used the same quote in our posts! 😀
Running for me def enables me to be more productive and focused throughout the day!

Same here, definitely!
Today my answer would be…coffee. I’m sorry I didn’t link. I’m so far behind and can’t seem to catch up! I need some extra energy right now.

No worries! I’m so far behind, too, that I just finished reading the Wednesday Word “judgmental” posts that were linked up.
I laughed when I saw two switches, on and off…I thought yep, that me LOL
😀
Here’s my answer to your chicken/egg and runner/energetic question: A circle has no end 🙂
I’m very much like you in that I’m either ‘high’ or ‘low’ functioning. I can go non-stop all day and get a million things done, or I can waste a whole day. I don’t seem to have any middle ground and it all seems to depend on how I start my day. If I start slow, it stays slow. If I hit the ground running I’m a force to be reckoned with.
I hope you got everything on your to-do list done!
You’re so smart! And I agree, each causes the other.
Let’s hope we’re both “high functioning next Friday and Saturday! 😀
