The weather this week was absolutely perfect for getting outside. It’s a rare treat here in the summer when we’re not swimming in humidity, so I took advantage of it even if it meant turning my runs into walks after a my left hammie got all bent out of shape and cramped up on me on Tuesday.

Feeling great, I ran to the track to meet my MRTT friends on Tuesday, and just like last week we got to watch the mama fox play with her babies in the brush beside the track. I felt completely normal during my warm-up and my first two 1200’s; however, just after I finished the first lap of my third 1200, my left hamstring seized up. I walked around a little, stretched, and tried another 1200, but since I couldn’t get the knot to relax, I quit and walked dejectedly back to my car.
- Wednesday
- Strength Training – 1 hour
- Walk – 3.15 miles
- Yoga for Runners
- Thursday
- Yoga For Runners
- Friday
- Walk – 2 miles
- Core Training – 15 minutes
- Saturday
- Run – 7 miles at an 10:19 pace
- Core Training – 15 minutes
After giving my pesky hamstring several days of rest from running while pampering it with foam rolling and stretching, I decided it was worth trying a nice and easy run on Saturday morning. I skipped joining my MRTT or Cruiser friends so I wouldn’t be tempted to run faster than I should. I kept my pace a good minute and a half slower than last Saturday’s run and felt very little tightness. Yay!
- Sunday
- Father’s Day Corn Hole games
- Rodney Yee’s Intermediate Yoga (affiliate link) Sun Salutations
- Teeter Inversion
Both of our sons were home for Father’s Day, and after brunch at home, and we had fun playing Corn Hole. Right now Bill, is enjoying a bike ride; and we plan to have one of his favorite dinners tonight. Happy Father’s, Babe!

My running schedule was not in synch with the weather last week – I picked the humid days to run, although they weren’t that bad.
Hope your hamstring is OK

Thanks, Coco! It’s much better this week.
I’m lucky I got to spend last night with my dad and tonight with my father-in-law! Very grateful.

Sounds wonderful!
Sorry about your hamstrings, but easing up on pace for the last run sounds like it was the right way to go. I hope that it behaves! We got to spend time with our fathers last week while on our vacation, so it was a nice treat! Our weather has been terribly hot and humid!!

I’m sure our Virginia humidity is nothing compared to yours in Texas!
The husband and I went to see “Finding Dory” and I went to my parents’ house for a bit after dinner…so, yes, I did get to spend time with the two main fathers in my life 😉 Our weather has been very hot (mid-upper 90’s) and humid for the past 10 days or so. I’ve done some cycling and minimal running (TLC for the “healing heel”) and have done some major sweating. Hope that hamstring eases up….I know how painful the hammies can be!

Thanks, it’s doing so much better. Sounds like you had a fun weekend with your favorite guys!
Weather was a bit odd this wk here as well. I barely got through my run bc of the humidity one day, but a day later I was wearing a long sleeve. Weird! Glad to hear your hamstring felt better when taking an easy run by yourself. I have a hard time running easy too when I am running w others.

Storms have been ripping through here all afternoon and evening, so it will be interesting to see what kind of weather follows. My run this morning was pretty humid, but I’ve seen a lot worse.
Glad your hamstring was okay for your weekend run. The sprint work at the track always makes me a little nervous, because that seems to be when most injuries happen. I see you received your Lulu shorts, aren’t they great with the striped top?

I love my Lulu shorts! I’m so glad I saw that picture of Christine wearing them with the Brooks top I bought in Chicago. I tagged you guys on my Instagram post in a picture of me wearing my new outfit, but completely forgot to mention it here on the blog. Sorry about that!
Argh, I’ve been feeling a little sensitivity in my left hamstring the past couple of days, hoping some TLC with the foam roller will cure what ails it! Great job with your workouts and dialing into what your body needs.

Thanks, Janelle! Hope you can work out the kinks in your hammie, too.
I’m glad your hamstring improved during the week. I love playing Corn Hole! We hung out by the pool grilling, swimming and playing Frisbee. My calf is so sore from the cramp I had during the run part of the Tri Saturday, I can barely touch it. Why is it always something? Thanks for linking with us Deb!
It sounds like your family had a lovely day with your main guy! Hope your calf is feeling better!
Aw, I’m sorry about those hamstrings 🙁
We had a lovely Father’s Day with my hubby and stepdad. We went to brunch and then to our neighborhood pool before having some apps at our house. It was low-key and fun.
The weather was almost chilly this morning! After weeks and weeks of 90s, I went out and found it to be in the low 60s! What???!!!

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend with your special guys! Morning temps in the 60’s sounds like a rare summer treat for you guys.
I wish I could say the humidity was down where I was but that was not the case at all! Reading where yall played corn hole reminded me my hubs had “official sized” games made by a friend. He has some decals ordered for it too!

I can only imagine how bad the humidity must get down there!
My husband and son make an official sized corn hole set and I painted them blue and gold and painted the WV logos on them. Our set is slightly smaller and I like them better because I can carry them around easier. I painted these maroon and orange and painted the VT logo on them. Do you sense a theme? 😀
