This past week was busy with work, leaf cleanup, Christmas shopping, and a few unexpected curve balls thrown in here and there. The good news is that I got pretty much all of my Christmas decorating done last weekend, so that’s not hanging over my head!

I pulled my lazy bones out of bed on both Tuesday and Thursday mornings to meet my friends at 5:30 on the running trail, something I hadn’t done for several weeks, and that felt great. There’s nothing like having my run behind me before I start seeing my morning clients.

Saturday found me meeting my MRTT friends for eight miles at 7 AM. I have to admit that it’s nice having my friends back again after their fall marathons are behind them. I missed them this summer/early fall when they were starting their runs at ungodly hours and pretty much everywhere except on my beloved W&OD Trail. Enough whining, I am incredibly lucky to be a part of such a huge running group where there’s pretty much always someone to run with!

After our run my friends had to get going, but I headed back to the trail for a few GoPro repeats. It’s funny, but those strides back and forth in front of my GoPro (affiliate link) are a pretty decent cap to my run. I focus on form and my stride to get the best picture. Another thing my GoPro pictures have shown me is that I’m a huge heel striker. I have very gradually been working on changing how I land. I don’t want to make a sudden change because at my age that could lead to a disastrous injury.

When my Fitbit Charge (affiliate link) quit working after only one month of usage – you know, the one I purchased to replace my old Fitbit that fell apart after I ran an entire weekend in the rain at Ragnar DC over a year ago and that I kept gluing back together for months – I was stuck without a Fitbit. It took me a few days to think about pulling out my old glued-back-together-Fitbit, charge it up, and depend on it until my replacement Fitbit Altra (affiliate link) arrived from the company.

My new slim and sleek Altra arrived, yet I haven’t gotten it going. There’s something comforting about this old reliable, yet unattractive, black and glue-smeared thing around my wrist.

And finally, I have been living vicariously through our linkup hosts Holly and Tricia’s girls’ getaway weekend in Panama City Beach where they ran a half marathon yesterday. They were joined by blogger friends Karen (who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting), Wendy, Judy, Darlene, Marcia, and Mary Beth. How fun does that sound!?! Most of these ladies also link up to my Wednesday Word so perhaps they’ll talk about how they organized their trip or how they organized their lives for a getaway during the busy holiday season this week when our word is organize. Whatever they decide, I can’t wait to read their recaps!

Here’s how this past week’s workouts went down; however, some of my numbers are off in this week’s infographic due to not having a working Fitbit for a day or two. Those items are indicated with an * because I either gave it my best guesstimate or averaged without those days…
