It’s that time of year when trying to figure out what to give your favorite runner or active family member can leave you frazzled. Don’t worry, you’re not alone, and in the spirit of the season, I wrote a little song about why it’s easier to shop online…
Dashing through the dough
There’s no time to delay,
Down the aisles I go,
Crying all the way;
The traffic’s getting worse,
The stores are closing fast,
How sad it is to fuss and curse
I thought I’d have a blast
Crappity crap, crappity crap,
I can’t stand this day!
Give me the chance and I’m gonna slap
Anyone who gets in my way-ah
And then I saw her blog,
Gifts with just a click
What fun it is to shop, then jog
Less stress for runner chick
Yippidy yay, yippidy yay,
My shopping is complete!
Thank you Deb for the gift array
My friends will think I’m sweet!
(Appologies to James Pierpont who wrote Jingle Bells)
Gift Ideas at Every Price Point
For your convenience, I’ve listed some of my favorite running and fitness related items and I’ve even broken my gift suggestions down by price point. Here are just a few of my ideas…
Under $25
Your runner might like a cup of hot coffee in a special mug before heading out for an early morning run…
And what runner wouldn’t like an ornament for the tree or to hang in a special place…
If your runner heads out before daylight, they’ll need a rechargeable headlamp…
In case of an emergency, make sure your runner has a handy place to carry a phone and other essential items…
As an added safety precaution, handheld pepper spray is always good idea…
Even in the winter you don’t want your favorite runner to burn…
Nor get blisters…
Whether it’s hot or cold, multifunctional Buffs serve many purposes…
$25 to $49
Don’t knock them until you try them, toe socks are the bomb and help prevent blisters caused by toes rubbing together…
Those knots aren’t going to go away on their own…
You don’t want your favorite runner to slip and fall in the snow…
All runners need to stay hydrated…
And fueled…
And after that long run, those legs have got to recover…
$50 to $99
Every runner needs a lightweight jacket for efficient layering…
$100 to $199
Running shoes vary greatly in style and size so you may need to do a little snooping in the pile of stinky shoes to see which your favorite runner prefers…
$200 to $499
You know your runner is going to want to listen to music or a podcast when they run…
Feed into your favorite runner’s need to know exactly how far they’ve run and how fast they’ve gone…
And if your runner likes to document their runs to share on social media, they’ll love a new camera…
Over $500
When the weather outside is frightful, your runner might find a treadmill or spin bike to be delightful…
- Questions:
- Which items on the list would you like for yourself?
- Which of the above do you consider the most essential items?
- What items should I add?

Maybe if I had a nicer treadmill, I’d run on it more! Nice array of gifts!
That does make a difference! I once had a treadmill that would grind down to a stop if I ran too fast. Apparently, I was more powerful than its motor. LOL
This is a good list! Love that song btw, lol. I like Buff and I recently got one of their headbands. Super awesome! I may also need a new foam roller.
Thank you! I got my first Buff headband last winter and love it! I appreciate its versatility.
