It’s time to sit down once again over a beverage of your choice and chat about things other than just running, riding, and training. Won’t you please join me? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that the Washington Nationals won the World Series and I have never been so pumped and excited about a sporting event in my life! Life is good, but I am tired! The game went late on Wednesday night and by the time we watched the trophy presentation and the post game festivities it was 1:15 AM when we got to bed. With a 5 AM wakeup for a 6 AM client, I got 3 hours and 45 minutes sleep. Unfortunately, Thursday was so booked that I didn’t have time for a nap. Sheer adrenaline and Halloween candy kept me going until heavy rain and thunder storms put an early end to the trick-or-treaters and I was able to get to bed around 8:30 last night, and I got 9 hours of sleep!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you I had a real live coffee/hot chocolate date with Kim from Running on the Fly last Friday. We were so busy gabbing that we forgot to take a picture during our two hours at Starbucks so I’ll just share this one from later in the day while we were enjoying lunch outside at Sweetgreen. Kim was in town for the Marine Corps Marathon which you can read all about in her recap here. To read more about our Friday fun, click here.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that after meeting Pablo on Friday, Kim sent me a text on Monday letting me know that there was a new category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic named… wait for it… wait for it… Hurricane Pablo! I replied that Pablo’s zoomies resemble a hurricane (especially near the center of the eye).
Hurricane Pablo…
Versus Pablo’s zoomies…
I think Pablo was moving faster! 😂😂😂
I’d tell you that speaking of Pablo, he’s been enjoying his own version of coffee dates during his two most recent visits. As we round the corner to the shopping center where our local Starbucks is located, he recognizes where we are and starts letting out the cutest little happy whines. He excitedly pulls on his leash and tries his best to patiently wait while either Bill or I go inside to get him a puppuccino.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that my new washer and dryer were delivered and I no longer have sheets, long sleeves, and pants legs twisted into tight pretzels when they come out of the wash. I am thrilled, but I do miss my excellent upper body workout every time I do laundry. 😉
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that on Sunday afternoon after the rain swept through soaking the Marine Corps Marathon runners, the sun broke out and the sky turned a beautiful blue. Bill and I took a walk around 4 PM in the balmy 72° and enjoyed looking at the mediocre showing of colors on the fall leaves. Bill made up for the lack color by using the the sun to light up his pictures.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I’ve been having my blonde eyebrows tinted for years, but it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I had my eyelashes tinted for the first time. Can I just say, “Game changer!” I may still have short stubby eyelashes, but they’re no longer the same color as my face making my eyes completely disappear when I’m not wearing mascara. I still need to wear mascara if I dress up and want to get all fancy, but for just work? It’s wash my face and go! Oh, and if an eyelash gets in my eye, I can now see it and get it out more easily.
Go to 3:10 in this video to see this girl’s before and after pictures.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have a race coming up, and if you do, I’d wish you good luck and remind you to have fun!

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • Did you have many trick-or-treaters? ~ We had the fewest we’ve ever had… maybe twenty kids.
- • What do you have planned for this weekend?
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

Now that I am approaching the “over the hill” age- I was thinking about eye brow and lash tinting. Glad you had a positive result. Pablo sure gets spoiled by his grand parents! Thanks for catching up over coffee!

If you give brow and lash tinting a try, let me know what you think. I’m so happy with the results, but it’s “one more thing” to add to my every growing list as I age! LOL
We love spoiling Pablo!
What?! I did not even know eye lash tinting was a thing. Mine are so blonde they’re basically see through lol
If you try brow/lash tinting let me know what you think! I love the results, plus my esthetician is a runner so we talk running the whole time!
I did not even know that you could get your eyelashes tinted. I wonder if you could do it at home or if you have to go to a salon. So cool! As I get older, my eyelashes get more and more sparse. Thanks for sharing your cute granddog pictures! He is a cutie!

You can definitely buy the products to do it yourself. I used to do my brows at home, but as I got older and needed glasses for seeing up close it got harder. Personally, I’d never attempt my lashes at home, though. I just think too many things could go wrong…
We had zero trick-or-treaters. I think by the time the neighborhood parade was over the storm was rolling in. Too funny that Pablo knows when you’re at Starbucks. Smart pup!
Oh wow, no trick-or-treaters – I hope you hadn’t bought a ton of candy.
I was surprised that Pablo recognized where we were because we’d only taken him to Starbucks once before. Smart pup indeed! 😀
Believe it or not, I’m doing a half marathon tomorrow LOL I did a half after my marathon last year, and it went well (and last year’s hilly marathon was much more physically demanding than MCM’s 18 miles of rain). It was fun having our our in-person coffee date 😉 I’d already forgotten about Hurricane Pablo!

Wow, good for you for running a half tomorrow! Good luck and have fun!
My mom had microblading done and her eyebrows look great! I have no eyebrows and may have to consider that. I also have drooping eyelids and am shopping around for an oculoplastic surgeon. Now that’s a specialty!
My washer does the pretzel thing with my clothes! It’s ridiculous!
Oh, yes, I’ve heard of microblading. I think my salon does that, too.
My mom had to have her eyelids done many years ago. As a teacher she had to pull her head back so far (because her droopy eyelids were in the way) just to see what she was writing on the chalkboard. She was in a tremendous amount of pain and it took her a while to figure out what was causing it. She looked ten years younger after the surgery!
I’m so glad your new washer and dryer came in! :] The fall leaves are looking so pretty too!
I’ve never actually heard about eyebrow/lash tinting! I had a friend tell me about eyelash perms in Korea and was kinda curious about those though!

I hadn’t heard about the eyelash perms until recently while waiting in the salon for my haircut and I flipped through a little photo album of before and after pictures. They call them eyelash lifts there.
as a Chicago cubs fan, I sure know how it feels to have your team win the World Series! Congratulations!!
Do you think that Pablo may have inadvertently created the hurricane named after him…? 😀
We were in Chicago a couple of times the summer that the Cubs won the World Series and we got to see them play during one of our visits. It was very exciting because our son and daughter-in-law lived there and we thought it might be the closest we ever got to a World Series win – vicariously through the Cubs. LOL
What a great fall photo of your deck
So glad you & Kim had the chance to meet up – I hope to meet you both one day

Same here, I’d love to meet you in real life as well!
Our deck looks completely bare now since I either covered or brought everything in for the winter since we took that picture.
I’ll let you know when I’m next there for work. I’m sure we’ll manage coffee at least.
And let me know if you do 5 Borough Bike again.

Will do! As of right now, we’re looking at a longer country ride around the same time as NYC so we might skip the Five Boro Tour this coming year.
