~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…
It’s time again to join in on the fun and clear my conscience of recent running, biking, fitness, nutrition, and life in general faux pas. I know I’ll feel better when I’m done, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you a laugh or two in the process!
I runfess: I somehow got logged out of Garmin Connect on my phone and when I logged back in I was on my older account. Everything since April 1, 2016 was on my most recent account and I can’t log back in because I have no idea what email address I used. I think when I got my current watch (affiliate link) I had trouble adding it to my old account (operator error, I’m sure), so I created a new account. It took my IT guy (my husband) quite some time to finally connect my running Garmin to the older account – we had to plug it directly into my laptop and add it with Garmin Express. Luckily, my bike Garmin (affiliate link) connected right away and now both are synced and working.
I’ve lost all runs and bike rides from April 1, 2016 to April 30, 2019. Oh well, at least I’m old-school and I write my runs and ride information in log books…
I runfess: I belly dialed my husband from my SPIbelt (affiliate link) one day and had no idea what was going on. I’d just come in from a ride and while on our driveway I heard Bill very faintly asking if everything was okay. I looked around and didn’t see him and finally decided that he was talking to me from our Ring doorbell (affiliate link). When I asked where he was, he told me that he was inside in his office and I had called him. Apparently, I’d not only belly dialed him, but also had him on speaker phone inside my SPIbelt. Now that takes talent! LOL
I runfess: Biking has become a huge focus of my cardio workouts while on injured reserve from running. I find that I finish my rides with that feeling of being completely spent like I did when running, something totally missing with walking, even at a faster clip. As a result, I runfess that I really, really like biking and that’s a hard pill to swallow for this runner girl.
I runfess: that the picture at the top of this post clearly was not taken recently. Even though hair salons opened the second week of June in our part of Virginia, I am not comfortable getting my hair cut or highlighted just yet. I made an appointment for mid-July and hope that I don’t chicken out as the date approaches. The last time I got my hair done was on December 12th and I was well overdue for a cut when the corona virus hit – I’d kept my hair longer so I could easily ponytail it for a mid-March beach trip which never happened.
I bikefess: I am not very good at making sharp turns when on my bike and whenever I need to turn at anything tighter than 90%, I panic. Last week while riding with my friend I crossed the street and as I rode up onto the trail I had to make a sharp right and of course, I panicked and literally rode into the wet bushes filling my left shoe with water. I somehow recovered and didn’t crash, but at that moment I realized that we need to have each other’s emergency contact numbers.
I blogfess: On June 8th I started the arduous process of upgrading my blog to Ultimate Managed WordPress which gives me a much faster server, a security certificate, daily backups, virus scans, etc.
Before…
After…
During the process of migrating my blog from the old server to the much faster server, my blog was given a temporary URL. Unfortunately, none of the hyperlinks migrated beyond the temporary URL which resulted in me spending hours on the phone with Go Daddy support getting everything ironed out. It appears to be fixed, but if you stumble across anything not working please let me know.
Prior to migrating, I had to deactivate one on my plugins which notifies registered readers of new blog posts and when I reactivated it, all of my followers were gone. As a result, I’ve seen a drastic drop in my daily stats.
There you have it, my most recent runfessions; and you can bet that it feels good to get another set off of my chest! See you next month in the runfessional.
- Questions:
- • When was the last time you accidentally dialed someone – belly, butt, or otherwise?
- • Are you computer/internet savvy? ~ I wouldn’t say that I am, but I certainly have learned a lot in my seven years of blogging.
- • What are your runfessions?

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about the Garmin issue. I do hope that there is a way for them to retrieve that data for you.
I got a haircut last weekend but I was definitely a little nervous. The only thing that really calmed my nerves was talking to my hairdresser and going over all the procedures she had in place. I also came to her with my hair always washed and blow dried so I was only in the salon for about 10-15 minutes for her to give me the cut and style my hair. Other than that, I’m still working from home and only leaving the house for grocery shopping once a week. I don’t really feel comfortable going to the mall or eating at restaurants yet.
My hair salon said that the CDC isn’t allowing them to use blowdryers, but two of my clients said their hairdresser blew dry their hair… I’m fine with no blow dry or style because like you, I’ll want to spend the least amount of time there.
You caught me! One of the reasons I started my blog is so that I would have content to build a real website with some day. 9 years later I’m still on blogger and still using my working title…I don’t live on Birchwood Street anymore and I almost never make pie. Oh well, it’s a fun hobby.

Initially, my husband set everything up for me – choosing Go Daddy as my host, WordPress for my site, etc., but once I got up and going, I figured everything out on my own and that make me pretty happy. Considering I didn’t sit down in front of a computer for the first time until I was in my late 20’s, I think I’m doing okay!
I runfess: I really, really like biking, too, and I’m even cutting my run short tomorrow so that my legs won’t be tired for biking this weekend
Robin and I both love that you love biking! 😀
I’ll share your runfession and admit I like biking, too. I’ll also runfess that I use it mainly as a recovery vice, though, and don’t really try to achieve any “fast” speeds or take on really tough routes (I have not been out on the hilly bike path yet this summer…). I’m also pathetically illiterate with anything technology. I really got no business blogging (LOL), but I have gotten somewhat adept at trouble-shooting when there’s an issue. Blogger recently “updated” (with no heads-up, BTW), so that was a fun adventure to stumble through.

It sounds like I’m not alone with the occasional blogging issues, then! Hope you get everything figured out with the Blogger update.
Funny, I runfessed about the update on the Blogger platform! I still can’t get Google ads to work on my blog, tho…
I did get my hair cut and colored last week. The salon took all the precautions. I felt pretty safe about it, plus the numbers are very low here, thanks to the diligence of our governor. It was so great to put the home dye away!
I hope you figure out your Google ads quickly. I wasn’t able to get one of my Amazon ads back on my blog after the update. It’s weird because one farther down the page works, but that other one won’t.
I love biking in the summer time too. I think it’s good to switch it up every so often. Biking gives me a great workout without that feeling of a beat down. I also think I am better at it than running. We must get out sometime this summer for sure! Definitely good to update to the secure web site. I still have a lot to learn about blog coding etc but I am trying

Yes, we need to stop talking and plan a ride together!
Tech issues like your Garmin one make me nuts. I have no patience to figure out that stuff. Your blogfession makes me queasy. I totally wanna hire someone to handle all the backups, migrations, broken links, etc. because again, no patience.
There’s been no hair maintenance here since before Thanksgiving. The struggle is real. Thanks for linking.
Hey Marcia, I just randomly found this comment and two other readers’ comments in my trash folder – not sure why they ended up there since you and they have commented on my blog many times before. Anyway, technology is great when it works; otherwise, I find it incredibly frustrating!
I think one of the most interesting things I did with my phone was videoing my pocket once (for a long time) during a race. No idea how I did it.
My last haircut was in February. I’m not in a rush, although my hairdresser is actually opening her own salon (crazy girl!) and it’s not open yet. I will not be the first waiting in line. I guess by Winter, when I’m not longer braiding it, I’ll have to relent, LOL!
I’ve taken pictures of the inside of my pocket, but not a video. Like you, I had no idea how it happened.
The good news about longer hair is that ponytails and braids are an option! 😀
