It’s time to sit down once again over a beverage of your choice and chat about things other than just running, riding, and training. Won’t you please join me? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I missed last month’s coffee date because I was dividing and transplanting Liriope. I’d been busy all week and thought I’d complete my coffee date post during the morning since I had a light Friday schedule. The weather was perfect for gardening and it’s a lot more fun to be outside digging in the dirt than inside sitting in front of a computer so I was lured outside. What I thought would be a two-hour job took almost four hours.
I failed to take a before picture of the long thick patch of shapeless Liriope, but there was enough to be divided so that I could replant these three clumps…
And plant these eight where I had dug out dead or dying azaleas. I even had leftover Liriope to give to a friend!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I ordered a 24-pack of Honey Stinger gels (affiliate link), and got this one lonely packet. I double checked to make sure I hadn’t misread the description because $13.52 would be very expensive for a single packet. Sure enough, it was supposed to be 24 packets and I got authorization to return the item.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I was so excited to find margarita flavored Clif Bloks (affiliate link) and couldn’t wait to try them. They left me with a resounding “meh” so I’ll stick with black cherry flavored and save the margarita for after my rides.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I finally got a haircut and highlights! I was required to wear my mask the entire time, even while my stylist was shampooing my hair, and it really wasn’t a big deal at all. I’ve also had my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted. What’s dark needs to be lightened and what’s too blond needs to be darkened. LOL
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I had a dream about showing up somewhere and I’d forgotten my mask so I suppose it’s now just part of life. 😷
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I never seem to order the right size shirt when I sign up for a race. Normally, if that happens I can exchange my shirt for the correct size at the race, but in the age of the pandemic that isn’t an option. When I my Firecracker 5K shirt was too large, I used another shirt as a pattern and took it in – it now fits perfectly!
And finally, if we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have any real or virtual races coming up, and if you do, I’d wish you good luck and remind you to have fun!

If we were having a coffee I’d be happy to tell you that today sees me celebrating 27 years married to Mrs W. I’d also let you know we are off tonight for our first meal out since all the craziness started 🙂

Happy 27th anniversary to you and Mrs. W! That’s definitely worth celebrating!
Good for you for being talented enough to take in a race shirt. I agree about never knowing what size to order without seeing the actual shirt. Most races at least now specify whether the shirts are unisex or a women’s cut. The shirt I got at the Wine Country race near where you live is actually my favorite, most comfortable race shirt ever!
Your liriope is beautiful! I bet you are glad you got that job finished.

My first two VA Wine Country shirts fit very well and then the next year’s was huge. I would take it in, but it was a bleh shirt that year.
Yes, I’m so happy to have the Liriope project completed!
I actually had a virtual “race” this morning…but the hubs, Barb and I biked it. And, I have ZERO regrets (and will not be submitting my finish time). Your landscaping looks great! I have a good-sized hosta garden I put in a couple years ago, but the derecho took out the tall pine trees that gave them shade. SO now…I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with them. Maybe you need to come to Iowa and take a site survey (?)

If you submit you finish time you might win first place overall! LOL
I love hostas, but unfortunately, so does my “pet” deer herd. Nom nom!
Having a cut and color feels even more amazing these days! Glad you got yours done. Thanks for joining for coffee. Hope to see you soon
Isn’t that so true! Suddenly, it’s become the little things that I appreciate so much.
Yes, hope to see you this fall for a ride!
When I saw the title I was like “no margarita is the wrong margarita” ahh yes, the Clif blocks. I learned the hard way that I do not like chewing while I run. I’m pretty excited for fall racing season, even though it will be just me, myself, and I at these races.

When we did Bike NY Five Boro Tour last year we picked up some mint flavored Clif Bloks at one of the stops. They sound horrible, but they were amazing! I was searching for more of those when I stumbled across the margarita flavored ones and though they were worth a try. Boy was I wrong!
Your plants look so nice! Being home all this time makes me wish I was more into gardening, but I can’t stand how mosquitoes attack me and don’t want to use bug spray or wear long sleeves in this weather, so I cope with our boring shrubs.
LOL on the single package of gel. That’s crazy! I’ve seen a lot of people surprised that they only received one dumbbell, but that’s usually from not reading the fine print. I think Zensah used to sell single calve sleeves — that was confusing too.
Thank you! I’ve always loved gardening and I’m sure it’s from growing up on a farm.
Selling single calf sleeves would be very misleading…
haha, I don’t know why but gardening always seems to take way longer than I think it will! The Liriope looks great though!
That’s awesome that you were able to successfully take in a race shirt! 😛 I haven’t sewn anything in a billion years but would like to relearn how, haha. I don’t remember how to use a sewing machine! :[
Thanks, Farrah! I used to sew a ton, but when I pulled out my machine after not using it for several years I had to think a little bit about how to thread it. LOL
I rarely remember my dreams, but so far, no, no masks. Although yesterday I knew I’d packed a mask & then couldn’t find it (it was there, but you know how I lose stuff!).
Still haven’t had my haircut. I really want to support my hairdresser, who’s opened a new salon, but she’s having some charity event in about a week & that’s kinda creeping me out. I doubt I’m going to be able to get an appointment before that happens. 🙁
Filled out a form on their website, still waiting to hear something.

I would definitely be leery about having my hair done after a charity event had just been held there. If you can’t get in before, perhaps wait 14 days (or is it 10 now?) and then make an appointment if your hairdresser gives you the all clear.

I LOVE the margarita chews. They & Cherry Blossom are the only ones I can sometimes stomach. I got my hair cut, but am letting the color go for the moment. We’ll see how that goes.

I’ve not tried the cherry blossom flavor, but I’d probably like it since I like the black cherry.
We just saw one of our beach neighbors yesterday and she has gone completely gray since last summer. I suspect COVID had a hand in that. I loved it, though, and she looks really pretty with gray.
