~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…
It’s time again to join in on the fun and clear my conscience of recent running, biking, fitness, nutrition, and life in general faux pas. I know I’ll feel better when I’m done, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you a laugh or two in the process!
I runfess: As I put on a pink sports bra under my white shirt and it showed through, I though, “Nah, it’s 5 AM and it won’t get light until after I finish my run. Since no one will see me, there’s no reason to change.” Then I got the great idea to take a picture wearing my headlamp for the first time since the summer solstice… LOL
I runfess: My eating was starting to slip a little because when I’m not running, I don’t have to worry so much about what I eat since I won’t be out on the trail jostling my insides to the point that an accident is a foregone conclusion… if you get my drift. About a month ago, I jumped back on MyFitnessPal and started logging in my food. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I log my food, mainly because it forces me to pause and reconsider before shoving unhealthy food into my mouth.
I runfess: I mentioned back in the spring that in late December I signed up for the Empower Summer Camp which was to be held in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains in southwest Virginia. Not surprisingly, camp was cancelled due to concerns over the pandemic. I was both sad and relieved so when a virtual option for the camp appeared in my inbox, I jumped at the chance to sign up.
We received a variety of items as part of our swag…
So why am I runfessing this? I did not participate in a single online activity and have yet to try any of the items I received. I was with clients during many of the sessions; however, the sessions were available to watch later if we chose. Basically, I threw away the money I spent registering for the virtual camp…
There you have it, my most recent runfessions; and you can bet that it feels good to get another set off of my chest! See you next month in the runfessional.
- Questions:
- • Have you signed up for something that you blew off?
- • When you workout in the dark and assume no one will see you, do you care about what you’re wearing?
- • What are your runfessions?

Today I’m linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice for her monthly Runfessions linkup. Be sure to check out her blog and those of the other great bloggers linking up.
I was this close to signing up for the virtual Empower Camp but then I didn’t. I runfess I most likely would’ve blown off much of it too. Sigh. I think the pink bra showing through could be considered a style statement. Haha!
Yes, I’m probably aging myself by expressing concern over my pink bra showing through. LOL
Don’t tell anyone but I kind of lost interest in the virtual summer camp thing pretty quickly. I am also back on MFP and working on eating more protein. I am aiming for 105 g a day which is challenging for me. I also feel much better already!
Yay, that’s great to hear. As I tell my clients, we are what we eat. I just have to remind myself of that when I start to slip.
I wish I had read your runfession about My Fitness Pal before I just shoved a handful of Cheetos in my mouth! Because I don’t eat sugar anymore, I find myself bingeing on the salty snacks. I guess I just shouldn’t buy them. Ugh!
Maybe runfessing about the camp will inspire you to participate in some of the activities! 🙂

LOL on the Cheetos! And yes, I agree, I probably shouldn’t buy the stuff, but I’ve got to keep snacks around for my husband, right? 😉
Is that a Longaberger basket with all the virtual swag? I couldn’t help noticing LOL I runfess that I sometimes intentionally wear clothing that clashes, just for fun (and maybe the shock value), even in the dark…because there will usually be a selfie, right?
Yes, it’s the Longaberger pantry basket. I sold them for about five years back when the kids were babies. 🙂
As I mentioned to Marcia, I know I’m dating myself by worrying that the pink shows through. At least the straps weren’t showing… oh the horrors. LOL
So many runfessions…such as summer is my best dressed fitness season because all of my tanks match all of my shorts. All of my winter gear is mismatched so yes that’s me in the orange shirt and green hat. I do much better with my food intake when I just write it down. I’ve used MFP but having it on paper works better for me.

I’m actually surprised that I don’t prefer logging it on paper as well. I do like the ease of the food just popping up if I’d had it before AND the automatic calories in versus the calories expended via my FitBit data.
I very rarely care about what I’m wearing, and I would absolutely wear a dark/bright sports bra under a white shirt.
Oh, man. That camp looked fun, but I am so tired of virtual activities. There are a few things I’ve paid for and blew off, but it was more to make a donation or support a cause. It happens.

In my grandmothers’ and mother’s generations it would have been a downright scandal to wear a dark colored bra under a white shirt so I think that’s just still drilled in my head. LOL
I don’t sign up for much I pay for and blow it off, but I sign up for #allthewebinars it seems — and often just don’t have the time to go. That’s some really nice swag though!
For many years I recorded my food. In WW, in MFP — then about a year ago, after I got really sick, I stopped and I’ve been *mostly* able to maintain since then, although just a bit higher than I’m really comfortable with during the Pandemic. I never thought I’d actually get to the point where I just ate!
To everything there is a season, though.
That’s great that you’re maintaining on your own! I love the accountability MFP gives me when I do jump on it to get myself back on track.
