~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…
It’s time again to join in on the fun and clear my conscience of recent running, biking, fitness, nutrition, and life in general faux pas. I know I’ll feel better when I’m done, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you a laugh or two in the process!
I runfess: Like everyone else, I like to watch TV while walking/running on my treadmill or riding my spin bike; however, I only watch broadcast channels. Why? I have no idea how to turn on Apple TV, Prime, or Netflix. We have them all, but I’m clueless even though Bill has shown me several times. I know, I’m pathetic!
I blogfess: I let my eighth blogiversary pass on January 31st without celebrating… not even one little mention at the time. 😔 Happy belated blogiversary, Deb Runs!
I blogfess: Speaking of my blog, I’ve written a lot about running over the past eight years. When Jessie at The Right Fits wrote about having her blog made into a book, I loved the idea so much that I looked into it for Deb Runs. I checked out PixxiBook which she recommended and discovered that it would require 4,264 pages in 15 volumes for approximately $2,060. That’s about $137 per volume. 😬 Guess I’ll pass on adding these riveting novels to our library.
I runfess: Sometimes I just don’t understand my Garmin (affiliate link)… I came in from a run last week and couldn’t get it to sync with my Garmin Connect app on my phone (the app couldn’t find my phone). After many tries, I finally deleted the watch from the app and tried to reconnect it. Even though I turned both devices off and back on, the app could never find my watch so I gave up. About two days later I decided to try again, and my Garmin was connected to my phone and had uploaded the run from earlier. How could it add my watch back on to the app by itself without me typing in the code that shows up on my watch? More importantly, what would keep it from adding someone else’s Garmin to my Garmin Connect account? Could it be that because it had been connected before it was able to bypass the code process? So many questions, but remember, I don’t know how to watch movies on TV, so there’s that. 😆 🤣 😂
I runfess: Speaking of my Garmin, I now wear it super loose when running or walking on my treadmill (affiliate link) in hopes that its distance, and therefore the speed, will match that of my treadmill. I’ve learned not to make it too loose or it will appear that I’m flying and I have to stop swinging my arm to let the treadmill catch up with my watch. 😂
There you have it, my most recent runfessions; and you can bet that it feels good to get another set off of my chest! See you next month in the runfessional.

- • If you write a blog, how long have you been blogging?
- • What your favorite show or movie to watch while working out indoors?
- • What are your runfessions?

Today I’m linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice for her monthly Runfessions linkup. Be sure to check out her blog and those of the other great bloggers linking up.
I also just realized that my 7th blog anniversary is in March. Not sure what to do about that. Happy blog anniversary to you as well. It took me a while to figure out apple tv!
Well, happy early blogiversary to you! The Apple TV remote just doesn’t make sense to me and I’m a huge Apple fan! LOL
LOL to the cost of publishing your blog in book form. I was interested in that too, but I have been blogging for about 7 years and figured it would be $$$.
We have ALL the streaming services. But I’m the one who shows my hubs how to work it, lol. My parents are begging for a tutorial…
Perhaps you could do a tutorial for all of us older folks. Honestly, other than asking how Apple TV works years ago when we first got it, I’ve never asked about or tried the other streaming services we have. I suppose I just prefer being clueless. LOL
My blog anniversary was January 24th (or thereabouts)…eight years for me, too. No celebrations happening here, either. I blame Covid. I’m very technologically inept, but I can usually access Netflix or Big 10 Network…usually LOL

Happy belated blogiversary!
I am not surprised by that price for the blog book. With 12 years of blogging under my belt, the price for mine would not be pretty. That said, I’ve been culling old posts, giveaways and sponsored stuff I couldn’t care less about to try to bring that page count down. The Caveman almost fell over the other day when we saw I was able to figure out the Roku system here and turn on Netflix. Not sure how I managed it to be honest. Thanks for linking!
I think it would be a major waste of money for me to buy my first year of blogging.
Yeah, it would be a miracle if we had Roku and I was able to figure it out on my own.
While there are some things Mr. Judy has explained multiple times & I never remember, I do know how to get into Netflix & Prime. But no, I don’t think you’re hopeless! I use the Peloton app for treadmill now, though, so my rechargable headphones I used to wear are gathering dust.
I have times my Garmin refuses to connect to the app. I’ve never had to put in a code, though — probably because I don’t use two step authentication. Which of course means I’m less secure but whatever.
What’s worked for me is simply turning off my Garmin & then restarting it.
LOL about wearing the Garmin loose on the treadmill. I never really worry about the syncing. Maybe because it makes me much faster than I really am on it, LOL!
I’ve had to put in a code that shows up on my device the very first time I’ve connected all of my Garmin devices and assumed that I’d have to do it again since I’d disconnected them. I don’t think it has anything to do with two step authentication, but I’m not sure.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the speed on the treadmill is the most accurate so it’s the one I go with now.
I’m with you on technology. I usually ask my grandkids to help me. The 6-year old is a wiz!! How bad is this? I have never even used Garmin Connect, even though I have had a Garmin for almost a year. I still enter my stats into an online training log manually.
Happy blogiversary!!!

I’ve added Strava to my logging so that’s one more thing for me to scratch my head over.
I runfess that I also do not know how to operate Apple TV and we’ve had it for at least 2 years, lol. I love technology, but basic technology. I probably don’t use half of the features on my iPhone, but i know just enough to do what I need. I hate it when tech items have hundreds of features – who can use them all?!
When I recently replaced my Garmin watch I continued to go with a basic one because I knew I’d never use all of the fancy features. I hardly use anything more than the basics on the one I have.
Perhaps we can go to Apple TV school together. LOL
I never thought about wearing my garmin loose on the treadmill… does that really work? Should I trust you on this based on your other “runfessions?” (ha ha…)
The worst is when I have to ask my son for help with technology… he knows the answer to every question but the eye-rolling that accompanies it is usually not worth it.

LOL on trusting me! Also, the more you swing your arms, the faster it appears you’re running. Oh yeah, the eye rolling really helps with the situation, doesn’t it?
We will have been blogging 8 years in March and with a week off here and there I am so impressed that we have been pretty consistent! I am actually familiar with the publishing industry and there are cheaper ways for you to publish your blog into a book. I’ve actually thought about that too, but picking and choosing only some of the blog posts.
I’m probably in the minority and I dont watch TV while running on the TM or riding my bike.
If I do eventually decide to print my blog into books, I’ll definitely only choose certain posts and will shop around to find a more affordable publisher.
Wow, no TV while running or biking indoors? Impressive!
I am pretty good with technology. But I do remember when I got my Smart TV I could not figure that thing out. My cousin had to help me out. 🙂 Sometimes too much technology can be overwhelming!

Yeah, a smart TV would probably throw me over the edge. LOL
I think your Garmin connects automatically after you have done the code once. Unless maybe if you need to reboot it.
We have all the TV services and I can do them all. I obviously spend way too much time in front of the TV. You probably just need to play around with it a little and you’ll figure it out.
I think you’re right on both accounts.
