Staying Busy
I had a wonderful visit with my mom at the farm, but stayed incredibly busy while there helping her do things around the house and chauffeuring her to a couple of doctor’s appointments. Even though I took several rest days from my usual workouts, I truly didn’t rest…
Overview of the Week
Before discussing each day’s workouts, here’s an overview of my workouts from this past week. Scroll beyond the infographic for daily details…
Sunday
Rest day
Monday
Strength training : 1 hour of total body
Running: 3.14 miles
• Average pace: 9:04
• Start time: 7:48 AM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 27° and sunny
• What I wore: capris, l/s shirt, nylon shell, gloves, mittens, and ear warmer headband
Foam rolling: 10 minutes
Stretching: 10 minutes
I helped Kim celebrate her birthday from afar with a Pi Day run. We still had snow on the ground (the trails were clear, though) from Saturday’s bomb cyclone. By the end of the day, pretty much all of the snow had melted.
Tuesday
Cycling: 10 miles
• Average speed: 17.1 MPH
• Bike: Life Fitness Lifecycle Spin
• Surface: N/A
• Elevation gain: N/A
• Start time: 6:28 AM
• Location: basement
• Weather: 61°
• What I wore: bike shorts and jog bra
Cleaning: 4 hours
I multitasked by riding my spin bike (affiliate link) while training a virtual client.
Later in the afternoon/evening, I put the gym back together which involved scrubbing the rubber floor and cleaning all of the weights and equipment as I put everything back in place. My husband and I also gave the rest of the basement a rough cleaning with the shop vac and gym towels as we tried to get up the last of the drywall dust.
May I just say how handy it is having a stack of gym towels (affiliate link) for my clients? I have been using the towels for cleaning up the kitchen and basement after the workers create their dust, and after washing them in bleach, they’re as good as new.
Wednesday
Travel day – drove to the farm
Thursday
Running: 5K
• Average pace: 10:17
• Start time: 5:04 PM
• Location: country gravel roads
• Weather: 64° and cloudy
• What I wore: capris, s/s shirt, and visor
Foam rolling: 10 minutes
Stretching: 10 minutes
Friday
Rest day
Saturday
Rest day – drove home from the farm
I awoke at 3:20 AM and never got back into a deep sleep so I got up at 4:30 and hit the road for home. I felt fine on the 6-hour drive (thanks to caffein), but treated myself to a much-needed long nap during the afternoon. As a result, I ran out of time and didn’t go out for a walk as I’d hoped.
Last Week’s Blog Posts
In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…
Questions:
- • Did you do anything special for St. Patrick’s Day? ~ Wearing my non-running green 💚☮️☘️🍺 shirt for my run was as close as I got to celebrating.
- • What was your favorite workout of the week?
- • Did you run in a race this weekend?
And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!

Fantastic week!
We normally go to an Irish pub on St. Patrick’s Day, but this year, we were waiting on a fridge delivery so it was a no go. Instead, we just hung out with friends. In some cases, that was probably better.
I ran a 3k race today. It was a blast.

So glad you had fun at your 3K race. I’m not sure I’ve seen one at that distance. It would be a PR for sure!
I thought about making something “Irish” for St. Patrick’s Day dinner, but ended up making enchiladas instead (fail!). In the past I’ve done more- used it as an excuse to drink beer- but I just couldn’t get into it this year. At least you wore a green shirt!
Glad your gym is put back together… that must feel nice. It’ll probably feel great to get back to normal next week.
Enchiladas for St. Patrick’s Day dinner would be a win in my book! We used to go to Chipotle on St. Paddy’s Day because corned beef and cabbage just doesn’t appeal to me.
You definitely kept busy!! My Glistening & Glowing Den could use a good once-over. Thanks for the guilt trip, LOL. Thanks, also, for having Pi with me 🙂 I appreciate all the support 🙂
It was fun doing a Pi Run “with” you!
You were so busy this week! Sometimes doing non running chores is more active than I expect. I traveled on St pat’s day so nothing exciting this time. Have a great week ahead
Thanks, Deborah!
What a super busy week for you! Sometimes I am more exhausted after a day of running errands vs a workout so i totally understand what you mean. Work has been really hectic lately so I ended up working late on St Patrick’s Day, so I didn’t get a chance to celebrate unfortunately.
Bummer on missing St. Patrick’s Day festivities due to work. Don’t you hate it when work gets in the way of fun? LOL
Oh you know I feel you on those unrestful rest days helping out your mom! It is just so time consuming, but an act of love, too. Your mom is lucky to have you: I don’t know if she tells you, so I’m telling you!
Nice job getting in your workouts around that. Probably my favorite workout was getting to run a new place! Always love that. I also got to do a lot of Yoga & Meditation on the one rainy day — that was really nice, too.
Awww, thank you Judy, and your mom is lucky to have you as well.
Hopefully the reward for waking at o’dark thirty was no traffic on your drive home? Glad you had a good visit with your mom.
No racing here, but I spectated which was fun

Yes, traffic was reasonably light in both directions because I left so early both days.
What a busy week.
I forgot to wear green on St Patrick’s day.
No race but ran a virtual half.
Have a st Patrick’s day race this weekend. Gotta find my green.
Good luck and have fun on your St. Patrick’s Day race this weekend!
