Happy Passover, Happy Easter, Happy Spring

Yesterday while out on my bike ride, I wrote in my head a clever introduction into today’s blog post and now I can’t even remember what it was about… So instead, I’ll wish you a happy Passover, a joyous Easter, and a wonderful spring!

I was super happy when I reached out to my friend Chuck and he was available for a late morning ride (once the temperature had warmed up a bit). It was great to see him – we hadn’t ridden together since our Key West ride in early January.

The girls and I had planned a gravel ride in western Loudoun County, but my work schedule precluded us from starting our ride before 2 PM. Instead, we rode locally on the gravel W&OD horse trail and had an absolute blast!

• Location: neighborhood trails

• What I wore: shorts and s/s shirt

Shortly after I arrived home from my last client, my husband stepped out of his office and suggested we go on a short walk. It was the perfect afternoon to get outside for a leisurely stroll.

Saturday

Cycling: 40 miles
• Average speed: 13.3 MPH
• Bike: Cannondale Topstone
• Surface: gravel
• Elevation gain: 2,375 feet
• Start time: 9:11 AM
• Location: W&OD Trail to western Loudoun country roads
• Weather: 59° and cloudy, climbing to 76° and sunny
• What I wore: bike shorts, s/s jersey, jacket and mid-weight gloves (took off jacket and changed to fingerless gloves halfway into ride)

Bill and I rode the 8 miles to Plum Grove Cyclery to meet the VeloPigs for our first-of-the-season VeloPigs gravel ride (it was the piggies third time gathering this spring). I was super pumped that my new friend Kim and her husband had joined the drove.

We opted the join the slower group of party pacers which consisted of about 25 cyclists. There are two other groups called business and business casual. and their distance is usually longer, but since they ride much faster they usually finish shortly after the party pace. To make up for the shortened distance, Bill and I added 16 miles with our ride to and from the group ride. The weather was perfect and we had a super fun day!

  • • If you celebrate Passover or Easter, how are you celebrating?
  • • What’s your favorite thing about spring?
