Whirlwind Week
Honestly, I don’t even know where this week went. I had a couple of new clients which always takes a little extra time, but seriously, that doesn’t explain the whirlwind week. I wrapped up my spring flower planting and completed a huge indoor project, relieved to have both behind me. And while I fit in most of my workouts, I didn’t make the time to to ride either my indoor or outdoor bikes.
Overview of the Week
Before discussing each day’s workouts, here’s an overview of my workouts from this past week. Scroll beyond the infographic for daily details…
Sunday
Rest day
Monday
Strength training : 1 hour of total body
Tuesday
Running: 5K
• Average pace: 9:34
• Start time: 9:09 AM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 55° and Sunny
• What I wore: capris and s/s shirt
Gardening: 3 hours
I was so busy that I completely forgot to roll or stretch after my run and it wasn’t until the following morning that I realized I’d skipped it.
Wednesday
Strength training : 1 hour of total body
Walking: 1 mile
• Average pace: 16:04
• Start time: 5:39 PM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 73° and cloudy
• What I wore: capris and s/s shirt
Thursday
Running: 5K
• Average pace: 9:46
• Start time: 9:32 AM
• Location: neighborhood trails
• Weather: 62° and cloudy
• What I wore: shorts and s/s shirt
The scent of honeysuckle lining the trail made this a run to remember and my pace was slowed as I stopped occasionally to take in the sweet fragrance!
Rolling: 10 minutes
Stretching: 10 minutes
Gardening: 30 minutes
My gardening consisted of sweeping up dirt off the deck and refilling the massive holes some little jerk squirrel had dug in four of my flower pots. At least he hadn’t thrown an uprooted flower overboard like one did day-after-day many years ago. LOL
Friday
Strength training : 1 hour of total body
Balance and stretching: 45 minutes
Saturday
Rest day
Rest day… HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa! This is only listed as a rest day because I didn’t have time to fit in any exercise. I spent the entire day (8 hours (plus 5 hours on Friday)) installing hardware (knobs and handles) on our newly painted kitchen cabinets. The most tedious part was measuring and remeasuring (even with templates) prior to drilling all 113 holes. I’m thrilled with how it looks and can’t wait to share the almost-final results of our kitchen makeover at our next coffee date.
Last Week’s Blog Posts
In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…
- • Sunday – Weekly RunDown: May 1-7 / Happy Mother’s Day!
- • Tuesday – Neither Rain Nor Mud Nor Flooding Nor Cold Could Keep Us From Completing the Gravel Grinder Nationals Mini G
Questions:
- • What recent garden, yard, our house projects have you worked on lately?
- • What funny critter encounters have you had in your yard or while out on a run?
- • Did you run in a race this weekend?
And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!

I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Be sure to check out not only the hosts’ posts, but those of the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
wow a busy week for you! We are not good at home projects at all. I wish we had those skills. Way to fit it all in this week
Thanks, Deborah!
My grandfather was a carpenter and my dad loved woodworking and making furniture in his retirement. They both taught me many useful skills.
I know about those not so restful rest days! Again where do you get all your energy? Can you share some? And gardening is ST in disguise!
I love that you stopped to smell the honeysuckle. 🙂
I guess I’m just driven and keep going until I get done what’s on my todo list. 😉 My parents were both the exact same way so it comes honestly (Mom gets tired easily now, though).
Honeysuckle and locust blooms are my favorite spring scents.
I giggled at the jerk squirrel. They really think highly of themselves as decorators and designers. The nerve!
Cari recently posted…another multi week update
HaHa, and now we have an even jerkier chipmunk who loves to dig in the front yard mulch beds. Good thing he’s so cute!
Yes, I ran this weekend! (and I plan to run, again, tonight under the full moon) I need to get my flowers going…maybe later this afternoon, I can get the flowers purchased and (hopefully) repotted in my hanging baskets and front porch planters. Maybe….
You ran and then some!
That cabinet hardware installation sounds tedious! But I bet it looks amazing. We have so much work to do around here, it’s overwhelming. I haven’t done my spring planting yet. We can get late season frost, so I usually wait. I think I’m safe now, lol
Yes, I ran a race this weekend…
It was extremely tedious and I’m so happy to have it behind me. More importantly, though, I’m thrilled with the results!
Yay for finally getting to run the Ice Age Trail Race!
Um, next time you’re in Florida can you swing by my place? Ha ha… we’re in desperate need of new kitchen cabinets, but my husband wants to do it ourselves and I want to hire someone. So we’re stalled on that and the cabinets are literally falling apart.
Sounds like you had a good week! All that gardening and work on the kitchen… in addition to the running and three strength sessions. I’ll bet you miss your bike though! Hopefully you’ll get some rides in next week.
Believe me, I still have plenty of projects on my todo list here in Virginia before I start offering my services out in Florida. LOL
Such a busy week for you! I hate when a “rest” day is anything but that, lol. But at least you were super productive!
Yes, it felt great to get that checked off my todo list even if it meant taking up a “rest day”.
Our house is in need of much.. we re-did the kitchen but we now need new windows and a new deck. OY!
I have a perennial garden and every year needs new plants. Hey, I thought they were perennial but the deer haven’t head the news.
Ran a 5k… and melted.
There always seems to be something that needs to either be updated or repaired when you’re a homeowner.
We’ve got a metric century on Saturday and it’s forecasted to get up into the mid-mid’s. We’re going to melt, too, but at least it feels cooler on a bike with the breeze.
I do need to get around to planting flowers and my vegetable garden soon! Maybe it will happen this week. I can’t wait to see your kitchen project pictures!
Hopefully, you’re finding time to do some gardening this week!
Great to read about your week, just love to get out there and run.
Thanks, Imogen!
