It’s time to sit down once again with a beverage of your choice and chat – I’ll remind you that I don’t like coffee or tea so my drink of choice today will be water. Let’s chat about things other than just running, cycling, strength training, yoga, and complaining about our most recent injuries. Sound good? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that my little gnome garden in our back yard has attracted some new friends. Luckily, they all seem to get along well. The four season gnome flags (affiliate link) seems like the perfect touch for their gnome sweet gnome.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that my little nine-year-old neighbor Saachi wrote, illustrated, and published The Troop and the Beach (affiliate link). My copy of the hardback book just arrived and I need to have her sign it.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that a turtle came up from the creek again this summer and laid eggs around June 14th. Based on a quick Google search, it takes 2-3 months to hatch so if I’m extremely lucky, I might see baby turtles making their way back to the creek later this month.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that we got new beach cruisers and I added a basket to mine. I can’t wait until later in the month when I’m cruising down the beach at low tide. For now, I’m content with riding around our neighborhood visiting friends.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have any races coming up, and if so, I’d tell you to have fun and stay safe!

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • Have you had any gnome or fairy sightings on your walks or runs?
- • Have you ever seen a baby turtle? ~ We’ve seen many sea turtle nests blocked off with stakes and ropes at the beach. I would love to see the babies make their way to the ocean.
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

What fun things to share!
I love your basket and your garden, and your neighbor is amazing!
Jenn recently posted…an august coffee date
Thanks, Jenn, and yes, my little neighbor is pretty cool!
we don’t have turtles but we have a ridiculous amount of toads and they are so loud! I love your new bike super cute
Thanks, Deborah! When the toads are mating in the creek they are ridiculously loud. 😉
Congrats to your neighbor on being a published author!!
I love that you have a turtle nest by you. i sure hope they make it!
I’ll let Saachi know that a book reviewer has congratulated her. 😀
And Me, too, I hope the baby turtles make it.
Wait, I can’t chat about my recent injuries? What will I talk about? (ha ha.)
I hope you get to see baby turtles! When my kids were little we went to the beach one night when the baby turtles were hatching. People were there to help them get to the ocean, and I remember one putting a turtle in the water and saying “he’s got a long way to go.” They have to swim a ways out before they’re safe, and I got sad thinking about how few of them would probably make it.
LOL
Awww, how special was that to help the baby turtles get to the shoreline!
You beach cruiser is the perfect color! So fun. I’m looking forward to riding at Rehoboth later this much, but on the trail not the sand!
Wow, what an accomplishment for your young neighbor! That’s fantastic.
Thanks for joining us for coffee — I mean water. 😉
If we don’t ride on the sand, we’d have to drive our bike 3.5 miles down to the road and that’s just too much of a hassle to do that each time. We might do it some, though…
Yes, Saachi is pretty amazing!
That beach cruiser looks great! Congrats to your neighbor on her book! What a great accomplishment.
Thanks, Lisa!
So… are you adding gnomes or is someone else? I’m intrigued!
It would be so amazing to see baby turtles!
Your beach cruiser is so cute! LOVE the color!
I have a half marathon coming up end of the month. It will be challenging… but I have the Chicago marathon in October come Hell or High Water. Then I will be focusing on something else and start running more just for fun. Right now training is too hard, my body isn’t really cooperating and I’m losing mental energy on other things in my life but I MUST do the Chicago marathon. It’s still. My deferred entry from Herniagate 2019.
I actually plan on strength training for a few months, with a trainer and running for fun/ parkrunning / running when I feel like it. Then we’ll see if I do any races next year.
The little rock garden with the gnomes are in our back yard and we’re adding them.
I love the color on my beach cruiser as well. In fact we found a 7-speed with the other specs we needed for riding at the beach, but in black. I wanted this one instead even though it’s only a 3-speed. 😉
I hope your half marathon goes well later this month and everything works out in your favor when running Chicago!
Our oldest got a baby turtle from a friend, exactly 11 years ago. It was smaller than a quarter, and now is bigger than my hand. It was rescued from a pond, and has lived in an aquarium all its life, so we can’t just take it back to the pond…but have had no luck in our attempt to re-home it elsewhere. So it’s still living with Grandma & Grandpa.
What’s the life expectancy of the type of turtle you have? Have you tried rehoming it to an elementary school teacher for the classroom?
Your gnome garden is adorable! Congrats to your neighbor. I do love that color of your new bike.
Thanks, Zenaida!
