It’s time to sit down once again with a beverage of your choice and chat – I’ll remind you that I don’t like coffee or tea so my drink of choice today will be water. Let’s chat about things other than just running, cycling, strength training, yoga, and complaining about our most recent injuries. Sound good? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I joined a Ragnar 31-Day Challenge with my MRTT friends. The goal is to do an activity every day of the month. I figured that since I’m super active, I might as well join in on the fun.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I got a TheraGun percussion massager (affiliate link) from my kids for Christmas and love it. In addition to making my legs feel great after a run or ride, it has already done wonders on a persistent knot that loves hanging out near my right scapula.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I love a good DIY project and when the Naugahyde on our three kitchen island barstools started peeling, I decided it was the perfect project to tackle. Well, first I checked with the manufacturer to see if real leather covered cushions were available and when they weren’t, then I decided to recover them myself. I found a sturdy upholstery fabric in a warm chocolate brown, watched a few YouTube videos on covering round cushions, searched for weeks for our staple gun, bought a replacement staple gun (affiliate link) for the one we misplaced, and as they say, the rest is history!
Before…
After…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that our deck railing was finally replaced after the August 5th lightning strike. Our original railing had been discontinued by the manufacturer (of course it had) and an exact match couldn’t be found so the railing on the entire deck had to be replaced. It’s finished and looks great!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I have finally undecorated the house from Christmas and as much as I love having the house decorated so festively for the holidays, it feels good to have it back to normal.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have any races coming up, and if so, I’d wish you good luck and to have a fun time!

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • Do you enjoy DIY projects? ~ I love them, but I’m still procrastinating on refinishing our kitchen table and chairs. 😉
- • What are your preferred post-workout recovery tools? ~ For several years I have had a love/hate relationship with my Rumble roller (affiliate link), but I suspect I’ll be splitting my time between it and my new TheraGun.
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

Your DIY stool reupholster looks great!!! We did that with our dining room chairs a few years ago. It’s nice to have something easy like that to upgrade perfectly good furniture.
I’m not great about recovery, but when I do it, I use resistance bands. I also still enjoy yoga.
Thanks, Wendy!
I have been so bad about doing yoga lately…
What a thoughtful gift! My upper back is always knotted up; that’s where I put my stress. My chiro even commented on it at my last visit.
I am not the least bit handy! My husband and my SIL are though. She’s redone chairs. I’d be lost. Although sometimes Mr. Judy clings a bit too tightly to the DIY — like trying to fix our old dishwasher on his own. He did do it a few times (shades of my old treadmill) — but I called BS when the control panel front actually fell off recently (buttons have been falling off for months).
The new one is supposed to come next week. 🙂 It was about 13 years old I think!
Yes, I thought the kids were super sweet to get a TheraGun for me. And same here, I carry all of my stress in that spot, and to a lesser degree, the same location on the left side.
That’s exciting that you’re getting a new dishwasher, but it sure isn’t fun to spend money on stuff like that.
You are good at home projects! The chairs look nice. We are also in plans to replace our deck and work should begin next month. For a sec, I thought you were going to say that you did that yourself too! The theragun is amazing and I use mine daily. Thanks for catching up for coffee
LOL on me replacing the deck railing, but I’m sure I could do it if I had to. You can do anything with a little help from the right YouTube video (and if you have the right tools). 😉
I’m impressed! The stool looks amazing.
Oh yeah- I was going to ask for a massage gun for Christmas but never did. So you really feel like it’s helping you? I’ll keep using the one at work for now, and maybe I’ll get one for my birthday.
I hate un-decorating the house after Christmas, but it is a relief when it’s done. It does look cleaner and less cluttered now.
Thanks, Jenny!
If I had access to a massage gun at work, I might not have asked for one of my own, but now that I have it, I’m happy. 🙂
The barstool project looks fabulous! The art geek in me LOVES DIY projects, almost to a fault. The great Xmas take-down hasn’t yet begun at my house…I like enjoying all the color for awhile AFTER all the holiday busyness ahs passed. Maybe this weekend, I’ll get things started…maybe…
Thanks, Kim! And I bet you’ve done some great DIY projects.
You did a great job on those bar stools!
Our house is un-decorated and my puzzle table is back out, but I have started a new puzzle yet.
Thanks, Coco! Yay for having your puzzle table ready for the next fun project.
Love the stools. Yay on all the home projects.
Most importantly, did you find the staple gun after you got a new one?
I’m running a 5K Sunday. Very much a we’ll see but good way to start the year
Thanks, Cari! And no, I didn’t find the staple gun and I’m glad I lost it – the new DeWalt gun is so much easier to use than the old one. My guess was that we had left it at one of our sons’ houses when helping them with a project, but when couldn’t find it either, we must have accidentally thrown it away while cleaning up after one of those projects. Whatever the case, the old one was about 40 years old and very difficult to use.
Have fun tomorrow at your race!
I’m still trying to get over the fact that you don’t drink coffee or tea! What?!
Well done on the upholstery project! Imagine all the money you saved by doing it yourself.
We just had our flat in Cape Town redecorated… I would have painted the walls myself but I wouldn’t have dared to do the tiles. Have you tried that?
LOL, right? I also don’t like watermelon which is downright unAmerican when celebrating Independence Day. 😉
I’ve not tried painting tiles. Were the tiles smooth, and if so, did they abrate them before applying primer?
I’ve heard great things about the theragun and now I’m kinda kicking myself for not getting it when there was a massive discount for health care workers. :[ One o’ these days…
I like the idea of DIY projects but I feel like I never get things to look as great as I thought it’d turn out, haha. Yours looks great!
Farrah recently posted…Ultimate Coffee Date: January 2023
So far I really like my massage gun. Perhaps TheraGun will offer another discount for health care workers in the future and you can get one then.
Great job on those barstools! Well done!
I have to finish undecorating today. I’m kind of the only one doing all the things around here, so undecking the halls has not been priority. Ugh.
I hear you! I’m the one who does all of our decorating and undecorating inside so I just put my head down and get it done. I’m grateful my husband does the exterior lights, but I switch out the garden flags and put out the Santa, snowman, and gnome tin figures.
That stool looks gorgeous, well done! I still haven’t undecorated the house – it will be my task for this coming weekend, and I’m the same as you – I love the festive look but looking forward to having “normal” back!
Thanks, Shathiso!
