It’s time to sit down once again with a beverage of your choice and chat – I’ll remind you that I don’t like coffee or tea so my drink of choice today will be water. Let’s chat about things other than just running, cycling, strength training, yoga, and complaining about our most recent injuries. Sound good? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that we finally got our first snow of the winter pre-dawn on Wednesday. It was just a dusting, but it was very pretty while it lasted.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that made I through the pandemic without buying an air fryer, getting a puppy, or gaining 15 pounds (remember those memes?). Well… a couple of weeks ago I finally broke down and purchased a Ninja air fryer (affiliate link). I put it on my Amazon wish list on October 16, 2020, but it wasn’t until a couple of my clients kept talking how much they loved their air fryers that I placed the order.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I love a good DIY project and when I found this corner shelf, perfect for the water closet in our master bathroom, I snatched it up. Unfortunately, it was in a medium brown color rather than espresso which I needed to match the cabinets and a bench. It was at a great price and exactly what I had in mind for the space, so I purchased it along with a can of espresso stain.
After a little sanding, staining, and adding a clear poly finish, the shelves were complete. I don’t have a before picture, but here’s the after…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that every two years I have to renew my personal training and weight management certifications. In addition to taking classes to earn CEC’s, I have to recertify in CPR, AED, and first aid. Since I have a couple of Parkinson’s Disease patients I registered for a physical therapy course through the Parkinson’s Foundation. It’s taken me 10 hours to complete 4 of 9 units, but I’ve learned so much already and will be able to offer my PD clients workouts designed more specifically to their needs and abilities.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I’m becoming more and more convinced that the entire intent of the the current Progressive Insurance ad campaign is to poke fun of me – last month it was gnomes and now it’s this. And yes, I occasionally clean our trash and recycling toters and I wrote our street number on them. In my defense, I first wrote our street number on our trash toter after ours got mixed up with our neighbor’s. Said neighbor’s toter contained dirty diapers and dog poop bags which continued to reek even after being emptied and let me just say that was a rough few days of having their toter in our garage.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that at the beginning of January I joined a Ragnar 31-Day Challenge with my MRTT friends. The goal was to do an activity every day of the month and I finished the month hitting all 31 days with 55 activities. I did not include rolling or the easy 3-block walks to and from the gym twice weekly with a elderly client.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have any races coming up, and if so, I’d wish you good luck and to have a fun time!

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • Do you have an air fryer? If so, what do you make in it the most? ~ I’ve used mine for a little bit of everything as I experimented with roasting veggies, baking chicken, toasting bagels, etc.
- • Do you have your address written on your garbage cans? ~ Guilty as charged!
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

I have an air fryer and use it often. I love air fried veggies and I air fry potatoes, turnips, and jicama a lot.
I’m a nurse. I hear you on keeping up with certifications. Because I float to a lot of departments and I’m a relief supervisor, I swear all I do is go to classes and certifications. It’s only funny because I applied for the relief supervisor job because I wanted the certifications. Now, I just smack my head and think, why? Okay, that’s a lie. I’m big on education. It’s important to me.
Also, I laughed at the complaining about injuries part. If you read my coffee date, you will see that whining is something I’m really good at. Have a great Friday! Hope to stop by again.
How awesome, it sounds like you have a lot of certifications and are prepared for any department you’re assigned.
I’ll pop over to your blog tomorrow and check it out!
Love your corner shelf! I wish I was handy that way, but that’s why I have Mr. Judy, LOL!
Oooh, that’s so interesting about the PT course. I may have to go look at that. Even though I keep telling myself no more courses, digest the ones you’ve taken! And of course I am not a trainer. Still . . .
Thanks, Judy!
Last fall, the hubs bought a Ninja air fryer, which surprised me! He is not a fan of gadgets but he got a good deal on it, so he figured why not? So far I’ve used it for potatoes and tofu, but I need to try other things. People just rave about it! One of the girls at work has a double air fryer, lol.
I have to do a lot of education and certification to maintain my APRN license. We also have yearly mandatory classes we have to take. This year if we finished them early, we get extra money for CME. You know I was on it!
I bet you do have to take a lot of classes to keep your certification up. Oh yes, money is a great motivator!
We did buy the pandemic air fryer toaster combo in 2020 and it just died yesterday. I guess 3 years is pretty good. I think I am ready to go back to the regular toaster oven situation. Yes, the snow was pretty and no hassle!
I don’t think my husband likes the toaster over feature on ours as much as the regular pop-up toaster – perhaps because of having to clean off the crumb tray afterward. 😉
Do you love your air fryer? I have a cosori one and I love it. I put much more in there than I thought I would.
It’s great to hear that you use your air fryer on a regular basis. So far I’m having fun experimenting with ours!
LOL on the Progressive ads! We keep our bins outside, which is good because we do have Scooby’s poop bags. 😛
It is so wonderful that you are doing that extra training. I know my Mom and MIL would appreciate having someone who could safely guide them through good exercises. My MIL often complained about trainers wanting her to do moves that worried her.
When Pablo stays over I keep his bags in a pile by the garage and then put them in an additional bag and drop them in the toter just before the garbage gets collected.
I’m happy when I can go the extra mile for my clients.
That’s a pretty dusting of snow! They got some snow in Texas this week and my son was happy- even flurries are exciting for a Florida boy.
I do not have an air fryer! You’ll have to let us know what you use yours for and how you like it. I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t have one.
I love those Progressive ads. My favorite one is still the one where the guy says “Do we really need a sign to tell us to live, laugh, and love?” I’ll give you a pass on putting your address on the garbage cans though- it sounds like you had an excellent reason!
Oh, I bet your Florida son was happy with the snow flurries!
So far I really like the air frier and I’m having fun experimenting with it.
We have snow that will not melt since it has been so cold… Maybe our running paths w ill be clear by April LOL
No air fryer here and haven’t missed having one.
Congrats on your 31 day challenge!!
I do have a race Feb 19 in Fla!!! it will be shock to my system since I have been running in the cold and dark,
How fun that you’ve got a race (and a trip) coming up in Florida. That will be a nice reprieve from all of your snow.
We have an air fryer that I never use, but my son loves to make french fries with it.
I think it’s great that you are studying physical therapy – what a great way to support your clients.
Those Progressive ads always make me chuckle – we have a dog so I get the poop bag thing.
Michelle recently posted…February Coffee Chat
It was the only exercise and Parkinson’s course I could find so I jumped at the chance to take it. It’s been very good so far.
We have an air fryer that seldom gets used. I really need to make an effort to play with it more. I’ve heard so many good things about them, I need to drink the Kool-Aid and get with it. I think those Progressive commercials are hilarious! The elevator one almost made me cry because I was laughing so hard!
I’m enjoying mine so far and it’s nice not heating up the big oven.
Yes, I like the elevator ad, too! They’re all so funny!
My mom has an air fryer and loves it! I definitely do find it convenient as well but we haven’t bit the bullet + gotten one yet, hehe.
That corner shelf looks great! :]
Thanks, Farrah!
I have to ask – a water closet? I have never heard of it. I have an air fryer but last year purchased a Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 Smart XL Indoor Grill. I love it! I’ve made burgers, french fries, and pizza.
A water closet is the separate little room off of the bathroom (especially in a master bath) that has the toilet in it.
Wow, your Ninja can cook food in a lot of different ways!
