Overview of the Week
Before getting into each day’s workouts, here’s an overview of my workouts from this past week. Scroll beyond the infographic for daily details…
Sunday
Walking: 3 miles
• Average pace: 14:52 minute/mile
• Elevation gain: 125 feet
• Start time: 11:54 AM
• Location: neighborhood trails
• Weather: 74°, cloudy, and humid; climbing to 80° and sunny
• What I wore: shorts, tank, and visor
I watched doppler radar for a window of no rain and once I was ready to go out for my walk it was raining. Wait what? I waited until the rain cleared and got my walk completed before the next rain clouds passed over. I’m not complaining, though, because prior to the previous three nights of storms, the ground was incredibly dry.
Monday
Strength training: 1 hour of total body
Walking: .911 mile
• Average pace: 18:45 minute/mile
• Elevation gain: 0 feet
• Start time: 4:47 PM
• Location: basement
• Weather: 71°
• What I wore: shorts and jog bra
After seeing Kim’s Instagram, I too, wanted to remember and honor 9/11 so I walked .911 on my treadmill (affiliate link).
Tuesday
Cycling: 40 miles
• Average speed: 13.5 MPH
• Bike: Specialized Roubaix Comp
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 1,955 feet
• Start time: 8:20 AM
• Location: W&OD Trail Ashburn/Hamilton loop with Thomas Mill and Woodburn climbs
• Weather: 68° and partly cloudy, climbing to 86° (feels like 89°) and sunny
• What I wore: bike bibs, s/s jersey, and fingerless gloves
I was thrilled when my friend Mary reached out about riding hills together. We hadn’t seen each other in over a year and it was great to ride together. We made a pact to hold each other accountable and ride through the winter. We’ll see if I can keep up my end of the promise… I talk big when I’m hot and sweaty, but as soon as the temps drop below 60° I start shivering.
Wednesday
Strength training: 1 hour of total body
Sanding: 5 hours 30 minutes
Yes, I started another DIY project, this time painting the built-ins in our family room.
Thursday
Walking: 5K
• Average pace: 15:30 minute/mile
• Elevation gain: 150 feet
• Start time: 5:59 AM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 63° and clear
• What I wore: shorts, tank, light jacket and gloves (took jacket and gloves off)
Painting and caulking: 10 hours
Why is it so hard to remember what to wear when the seasons start changing? Case in point: It was 63° when I joined Kim for our weekly virtual cardio workout. Since I would be walking I wore gloves and a light jacket, but quickly realized I didn’t need either and stripped them off after a half mile.
Friday
Cycling: 35 miles
• Average speed: 14 MPH
• Bike: Specialized Roubaix Comp
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 1,421 feet
• Start time: 6:37 AM
• Location: W&OD Trail Ashburn/Hamilton loop
• Weather: 56° and clear, climbing to 63° and sunny with a NE breeze
• What I wore: bike shorts, s/s jersey, light jacket, and fingerless gloves
Balance and stretching: 45 minutes
Painting: 7 hours
After rescheduling a client so I could join the Dawn Patrol again for an early morning ride, my husband wasn’t available to join us. I didn’t want to ride on the trail alone at 5:30 AM to get to our meeting spot so I waited until it was getting light out and just did my own thing.
While stopped at my turnaround spot and taking a picture of my bike, a lady who was walking her dogs offered to take a picture of me with my bike. When I agreed, she dropped the leashes and told the dogs to sit, but they were having none of that! Both dogs ran over to me jumping up trying to give me kisses. Can you spot both dogs? The little one is wearing his best leaf camouflage fur!
Saturday
Walking: 2 Miles
• Average pace: 16:23 minute/mile
• Elevation gain: 92 feet
• Start time: 8:48 PM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 65° and cloudy
• What I wore: shorts and s/s shirt
Painting: 5 hours 30 minutes
After a long day of painting, I needed to get outside so I took a short walk with my hubby.

I totally agree on the change of season and the confusion (or amnesia?) of wardrobe stress. And, it’s not like it doesn’t happen every year (four times, none the less, LOL).
It’s so weird that we can’t remember from season to season.
