There’s really not a lot to catch up from this past week. I had a few clients on vacation which meant a lighter work week, and I spent my extra time doing some much needed gardening and working on some future blog posts.
Backing up to Sunday, we arrived home from visiting my mom for the weekend and our son and his girlfriend came over for a quick visit. Of course, their visit meant we got to see our favorite pup, Pablo, who loved the new cow toy I’d gotten him!
Without a 7:30 AM client on Tuesday, I opted to sleep in and didn’t run until 6:30. Since it was my first run in ten days, I kept the pace easy (10:22) and felt pretty good. With the starting temperature at 59°, it felt amazing – a rare gift from Mother Nature in June. There were a few kinks, but I felt better the more I ran. I was surprised to see this new bridge and wide gravel path joining my neighborhood asphalt trail to another community so I did a little exploring to check it out. I approved!
On Thursday I met my running friends for Tiffany’s farewell run. I think they’d had her official farewell run on Saturday while I was visiting my mom, and then there was another one on Friday. Not to be outdone by Cher’s Farewell Tour, Tiffany is getting quite the sendoff. We wish her only the best in California, but will miss her terribly!
Yesterday morning bright and early, Tracy (pictured above in pink) and I met for six miles before it got too terribly hot (temps were forecasted to get in the mid-90’s). Even though I carried my GoPro while running, I totally forgot to take any pictures until after we’d said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways back toward our houses so I only got this solo pic.
Bill and I spent Saturday afternoon running errands, picking up my race packet for Wednesday’s Firecracker 5K, etc. On our way home we stopped at a little brick oven pizza place we’ve been visiting since our sons were little. This pizza and a spinach salad hit the spot!
This evening we’re meeting a few of our Cruiser friends for a barbecue and I can’t wait! I was asked to bring an appetizer and a summery cocktail and I’m thinking of making Liz’s peach and burrata bruschetta. It sounds amazingly delicious!

I’m linking up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Wendy from Taking The Long Way Home for their Weekly Wrap. Be sure to check out not only the hosts’ posts, but the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
My barometer for not feeling well is when I don’t take photos. I’m otherwise such a shutter bug that it’s a pretty reliable indicator that something is up. Love your grandpup and his cow
Oh, that’s a good point and probably true for me, too.
Do I ever forget to take pictures? Only all the time! I am a terrible picture taker. I even forget to take pictures of my grandkids – what grandma does that?
The pic of your “granddog” is adorable! 🙂
I bet you’re too busy reading to them and playing with them to take pictures. 🙂
True! 🙂
Peach burrata sounds so good right now! Hope you have a great week and take care in this crazy heat
The peach bruschetta was so pretty and delicious, and I forgot to take a picture! I’m making it again this weekend when my kids visit so I’ll be sure to take a picture then. 😎
Pablo and his little cow are so cute! It sounds like 10 days off running worked very well as a rest period for you. I wish I had the nice paths to run like you do. Thanks for linking!
We are soooo lucky to have so many paths (many shaded) around us!
That appetizer sounds tasty! My favorite has to be buffalo chicken dip.
The appetizer turned out great and was so delicious. I’m so glad I tried it! I make the buffalo chicken dip regularly for college football tailgates and it’s always devoured!
I don’t always take my phone with me, so a lot of my selfies are on my porch or in the street at the base of my driveway (but I try to vary the angle of the camera so they look different LOL). My favorite go-to appetizer are pizza pie crust rollups 😉 I’m racing on Wednesday, too #speedwork
Oh yum, do the pizza pie crust rollups have pizza type toppings inside?
Have fun and good luck at your race on Wednesday! Happy Independence Day!
It’s rare for me to forget to take a picture! If I don’t take one, it’s because I feel awkward…
I’m thinking about racing on Wednesday. Thinking. It’s going to be hot…
Yes, you’re very good about taking pictures and I get the feeling awkward sometimes when people are around…
If you decide to race on Wednesday, have fun! It’s going to be hot here so I’m thinking about taking it easy at my race and just running it, not racing. Easier said than done, right?
Pablo is the cutest! Glad to see that he loved his new toy 🙂
That pizza that you had looks amazing! I love experimenting with different toppings when possible.
I often forget to take pictures and it’s a habit I’m trying to break because if I don’t take photos, I have nothing to share on Instagram LOL
Sometimes I take pictures and then spread them out over a few days on IG – like yesterday’s bike ride was good for yesterday and today! LOL
What a lovely group of runner friends you have! I’m sure it’s hard to say goodbye to one, runner friendships are the best 🙂
That pizza looks delicious!
Runners friends really are the best! And the pizza was as delicious as it looks!
I forget to take pics a lot! At least you remembered to get the solo one 😉 Good luck to your running friend who is moving.
True, at least I remembered to take that solo picture! 😉
I’ve got better at taking run pics since I joined this weekly wrap with my weekly running posts- got to have something to keep everyone interested in the text bits. Sadly only a map of a broken run this week, although some bonus athletics champs shots! Well done on a good, strong week.
Pics definitely help break up the words. 😉
What’s the name of your blog with your running posts? I could only find your editing, proofreading, etc. blog when I followed your link…
Oh, sorry it’s at http://www.librofulltime.wordpress.com and is called Adventures in Reading, Running and Working from Home. I put that URL when I was posting my comment but it must have picked up my first WordPress site to link my name to. Grr.
Thanks! Heading over now to check it out! 😎
Oh man, I would LOVE to start a run with those cooler temps. It sure is toasty here so I’m up early and dealing with humidity rather than the brunt of the sun beating down on me. Love your running group of ladies! We have a designated picture taker in our group or else it just doesn’t happen lol.
Tuesday morning’s cooler temps were a gift, that’s for sure! I wish the forecast was for that cool for my race on Wednesday morning!
I’m pretty much the designated picture taker in my group of friends, too, and that’s why it was odd that I forgot! 😉
Send off runs are always bitter sweet =( Good luck with your race this week! I’m doing a Fourth of July run too!
Thank you, and good luck at your race on Wednesday as well!
Oh, gosh! I hate when I forget to take pictures, or don’t take the “right” one. Ugh.
Go-to appetizer? Usually hummus/spinach dip with veggies and chips for something easy.
You had a great week! It’s so great you have such a versatile home gym!
I love spinach dip, but only make it when we have friends coming over because my husband doesn’t care for it, and I’d eat it all if given the opportunity. 😕
