I’m joining Coco at Running With Perserverance, Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner, and Lynda at Fitness Mom Wine Country for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup! Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d first and foremost wish you a Happy Independence Day!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that Bill had knee surgery on Monday. He is progressing well, and the doctor hopes he will be back out running by the fall. I’d also tell you that I miss my #1 running buddy very much!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I got a FitBit a couple of weeks ago (Note: FitBit is an affiliate links. For details, check out the lower right sidebar). One of the reasons I wanted it was to track my sleep habits. I’m suddenly realizing the truth hurts… My first week I averaged 5.43 hours of sleep per night, and the second week I averaged 6.5. This week I am on a downward spiral with an average of 4.72 hours. My problem is that I like to get up early and go to bed late. Yesterday afternoon I took a nap. It was heavenly!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that within a week of finishing a Ragnar Trail Appalachians, I signed up for Ragnar DC. I’m convinced that Ragnar is a cult, and I’m heading to the dark side – and not just for my overnight run!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that my son and daughter-in-law are moving to Chicago in a couple of weeks. Joseph will be attending grad school at The University of Chicago, and Julie will be teaching math near the university. I’m so excited for their new adventure, but we are going to miss them terribly. No doubt you will start seeing race recaps from the Chicago area in the not-to-distant future!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I’m running in the Firecracker 5K today, and I’m grossly under-trained in the speed department. Last year at this time I had about six weeks of tempo runs and hill repeats under my belt, and I’ve run zero tempo runs this year and only one set of hills. What I’m lacking in speed, though, will be made up in sparkle! Be sure to check out my race recap tomorrow or Monday for the big reveal!
If we were having coffee…..
I would remind you that I currently have a giveaway in progress and would encourage you to enter. On Tuesday, I reviewed the Moji Foot Massager. If you’re interested in checking it out and entering for a chance to win your own foot massager, click here.

- Questions:
- What would you tell me if we were having coffee?
- What are your Independence Day plans?
- Are you racing this weekend?
I’m doing a 4 mile race today.
I get up early . . . but I go to bed early, too. I frankly don’t see how you function on 5 hrs of sleep.
Run happy today!

Good luck and have fun at your race today! Believe me, the lack of sleep catches up! I had time for a nap yesterday since it was the holiday – it was fabulous. Normally I try to get 6-7 hours sleep per night…
I love my Fitbit for a HR monitor and I like the sleep info too. Ragnar DC sounds like such fun! Sparkle at the Firecracker? I can’t wait to hear about it.

We didn’t get the FitBits with the HR monitors and I sort of already regret it. Oh well!
Last year Ragnar DC finished in National Harbor, just across the Potomac River from DC. I can’t wait to run past the monuments this year on my final leg!
It’s subdued sparkle so don’t get your hopes up too much! 🙂
Ragnar is a cult! It’s so much fun isn’t it? I have a wedding to go on the DC Ragnar weekend and I am so bummed to miss it. Already trying to plan out another for next year. Thanks for joining us for coffee today. Love these posts!

I’m thinking of the Chicago Spring Half Marathon. Have you run it?
Oh, gosh, I am with on the poor sleeping habits! It only gets worse in the summer when my son his home from college and staying up even later. I’m doing Ragnar DC for the second time this fall and eyeing the Virginia trail version next Spring …. Thanks for joining us for coffee!

Hope to see you at Ragnar DC! My Ragnar WV team is seriously considering Ragnar Richmond next spring. Perhaps it will be less muddy! 😀
Happy Fourth! I don’t have a fitbit but I Have the Misfit Shine and I have NOT been getting enough sleep lately, ugh! It really makes a difference. Ragnar is my dream race…I really hope that I can finally do one, maybe next year! Didn’t know it was a cult though…uh oh, lol!

Yes – once you do one Ragnar you are sucked into the whole thing and want to run them all. LOL I’ll have to stick with the local ones though. You should definitely give it a try one day.
Do you like your fitbit or has it grown old ? I am really tempted but haven’t bit the bullet yet ! hope you had a great race.

I’ve only had my FitBit about three weeks so it hasn’t grown old yet. Some of my clients have them so it’s a good way to “friend” them and monitor their activity if they want me to do that.
My race was lots of fun and wet! I’m writing up my recap this afternoon to publish tomorrow. How was your race?
I’ve run 2 Ragnars – – so much fun!!! And I’m a big fan of my Fitbit, too. But, I don’t track my sleep, I’m usually pretty good at that.
