Six years ago today my phone rang non-stop… Yesterday I got calls and Facebook messages all afternoon… I have the most caring friends in the world.
I was at the gym training a client when we heard about the shootings at Virginia Tech. My son was a freshman and I couldn’t get a call through to him for 45 minutes. Those were the longest 45 minutes of my life… When I finally reached him he was still in his room, safe.
Yesterday my friends called, emailed, and checked in with me on Facebook to see if I’d gone up to run Boston, and if I was OK.
To all of my friends: Thank you, I love you, and I think you’re the best.
It’s important to remember that despite a few bad people who want to do harm, there are so many, many good people.
The human spirit amazes me, and I saw it yesterday in the people who ran in the direction of the blasts immediately after they happened to help those in need and in those who immediately thought of friends and loved ones and reached out to make sure they were okay.
In moving forward, we have to live for those who don’t have that opportunity anymore.
Well said, Meagan!
