Usually I write much of my Sunday recap during the week as we go along, but I had several things going on and decided that I’d have plenty of time to get to my recap written on Saturday or Sunday, so I focused on living in the current – like getting to visit with both of our sons this week – Joseph on Monday afternoon, and Daniel on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
I headed straight to the mall to do some returns after dropping Joseph of at the airport on Monday. While in Old Navy I snagged these three headbands for $1.49 to $2.99 each on clearance! On a side note, no matter how old my little boy is, I will always cry when dropping him off at the airport, and I preceded to cry all of the way to the mall.
On Tuesday, Tracy and I decided to skip the single digit windchill and go out for our run at noon when the sun had warmed things up a little. It was quite windy and definitely the coldest run of the season.
I didn’t take my GoPro with me for our five-mile run because the battery dies so quickly in the extreme cold. I swung by my house (remember, this wonderful trail runs right by my yard) and grabbed my GoPro, and then captured this picture with it while running an additional mile.
Wednesday I headed out for a run/walk. I probably should be riding my spin bike on Wednesdays, but the day was so beautiful that I took advantage of enjoying the sun again after our two previous weeks of dreariness.
Thursday’s gloomy solo run took me off-trail for a little bit as I explored one of the side paths off the neighborhood trail. I think it was made by kids cutting through to a nearby street. Anyway, it made me really miss trail running – something I hope to get back to in March.
I spent quite a bit of time taking down our Christmas decorations during the week. My goal was to get the Christmas tree taken apart and boxed up so Daniel could help carry the boxes to the basement while he was visiting Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning he flew to Cancun for business for a week – rough life, I know!
My final Feetures! shipment of the year arrived last week as well. I had a contest for my running friends and the winners are going to love their prizes! If I’m selected as a Feetures! ambassador again this year, watch for a giveaway on the blog in the spring!
Saturday I skipped my long run when I woke up to emails from my two Cruiser running buddies saying they wouldn’t make it. I went back to bed thinking I’d run later, but when I got up I just didn’t feel like it and chose to be lazy. I spent the afternoon lying around watching a Flip or Flop marathon on HGTV, thinking I’d head out this morning to make up my missed run.
Unfortunately, I woke up to a spinning room. Vertigo… It was 4:30 this afternoon before I was able to stay upright. Since then I’ve been able to function almost normally as long as I don’t move my head suddenly, and I just ate for the first time today.
Sadly, the vertigo caused me to miss our annual MRTT volunteer luncheon which I was so looking forward to!

I’m linking up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Tricia from MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. Be sure to check out not only the hosts, but the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
Have a great week!
- Questions:
- What bargains have you found recently?
- Have you ever had vertigo? Once before for me about 15 years ago, but the jury’s still out whether that was vertigo or food poisoning.
- Did you race this weekend?
I hate vertigo! I’ve had it a few times in the past year. I wonder what causes it?

I don’t know why I get it, but I do have a family history…
I worked with someone who had vertigo, she would get so sickkkkk! Ugh…I feel for ya!
I got a great pair of warm pants and a warm short at Old Navy 🙂 I am surprised at how nice some of their running stuff is.
No matter how old our babies get, we are always Moms 🙂
Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks!
I didn’t try on any of Old Navy’s capris, but they had some cute pairs. 🙂
I’ve never had vertigo, Deb and I hope you are feeling better now! I do have a 23 year old son and whenever I have to drop him off at the airport and say good-bye it makes me cry.
Thanks, Jade. Fingers crossed… I learned a home-remedy technique today that seems to be helping.
Once our babies, always our babies, right?
Oh no, sorry to hear about the vertigo. My mom had issues with these a few years back. It went away but I don’t recall if she had to do anything for it or if it went away on its own. I totally know what you mean about saying bye to the kids. My sons go to school with their dad in NY so the end of summer and school breaks are always really hard for me and I end up mopey for a while.

I’m sure you probably count the days until your sons next visit. Being a parent of adult children now makes me understand how hard it is for my mom every time I leave after a visit.
maybe I will start tracking my sleep too great idea. That’s a lot of feetures gear 🙂

Tracking sleep was one of the things I was most interested in when I got my FitBit. I’m the queen of not needing a lot of sleep, and getting even less than I need. I’ve improved from about 5.5 hours to an average of around 6.5 hours. This past week was really good for me!
I am always looking for a bargin-heading down to Orlando on Wednesday and can’t wait to hit the outlets!
Vertigo-never had it but have heard it is miserable!
I do like the feel of those Feetures socks. Honestly though, I never really feel a big difference in socks.
No racing this weekend. Actually, yesterday I ran 2 miles- 1st miles since the New Year 5k.
Love Love Love the GoPro shots!!
Hope you find lots of bargains at the outlets in Florida!
Come run with me and we’ll play with my GoPro!
Really sorry about the vertigo; I’ve never had it, knock on wood, but I know people who have and I know that it is not fun.
I’m not a cryer, but I have definitely shed my share of tears over Chester. I guess I get it from my mom; stoic peasant stock. I really don’t like crying, though; it gives me a horrible headache.

I would cry a lot, too, if I had just lost a beloved pet. I’m usually not much of a crier either, but knowing that I wouldn’t see my son again for a couple of months made it harder.
I always love your pictures ! And Feetures ? sign me up ! Love mine !
Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks, Karen! I’m hoping to take some snow pictures, but so far we haven’t seen a flake of snow…
I have never had vertigo before. I hope it was food poisoning and not something you are going to have to deal with!! I’m dying to find out the ambassadors for Feetures! Wonder when they will announce them?!

I’m pretty sure it’s vertigo because it’s still coming and going. I tried a home remedy this afternoon that seems to be working pretty well. We’ll see when I lie down tonight.
I think the Feetures! application said they’d let us know in late January.
I have to admit I still have my Christmas tree up, I think me being out of town the past 3 weekends does warrant a legit excuse. I had great intentions of having most of my Weekly Wrap post ready but my schedule just did not allow it. You never know what you’ll get into and when you’ll get in for the night. I almost cut it too close and then had technical issues. But got it done and so did you! I appreciate you and always, always love seeing those GoPro pictures!!!

I almost always write my Wednesday Word post on Tuesday morning. I often think that I shouldn’t cut it so close because what if something came up and I couldn’t get the link up set up on time… But you’re right, we always get it done when it counts!
First of all, I LOVE all your awesome action shots!!! Second, my house looks much like you’s with Christmas remnants scattered about (spend 9 days post-Christmas on vacation, and nothing happens while you’re gone…….all the take-down stuff was waiting for ME upon our return). And, third, Old Navy is a well-kept secret for decent workout stuff at a good price 😉

Thank you! I finally got all of my Christmas stuff put away last Wednesday night – whew! As much as I love having the house decorated, it’s a good feeling getting it all cleaned up after the new year.
I have not experienced vertigo but hear it’s rough. I get weird flashing lights on the edge of my vision which I believe is a migraine without the pain. Odd. You are ahead of me with the undecorating. I am returning home to a house full. I hope your neuroma issue improved from last week? Thanks for linking!
My neuroma is definitely feeling better, and I’m pretty sure it was the shoes and different orthotics that aggravated it. Of course the fact that I haven’t been running this week because of my vertigo is giving my neuroma a chance to calm down. 🙂
We’ve definitely had some cold temperatures last week and this week! I still haven’t put away our Christmas decorations. It’s a long weekend so I will get it done this weekend (probably….). We aren’t turning our outdoor lights on anymore, except for the chicken coop, but I’m still enjoying looking at the inside stuff.
You know I love Feetures socks! In fact, they’re the only type of socks I run in. I hope you get the ambassadorship again. 🙂
